Another mix of old and new here, I only started camping again last year at the end of season so missed out on the secondhand carboot bargains. I have suprised myself at how much new stuff we have, pop up tent for kids to play in during set up, kitchen unit, table & chairs, large table, airbeds, sleeping bags, blow up sofa bed, cheap carpet, rug, table cloth, bath mat, shower mat, plastic drawers, EHU, fan heater, rechargeable lantern, toaster, fairy lights & windbreaks. Secondhand items are TT, bell tent (unused customer return but cheap secondhand price ) stove effect fan heater, kettle and managed to pick up a rechargeable lantern for £1 and a double electric hob for £2 at carboot today. Items from home are fleeces, pillows, small side table, old dinner set, cutlery, my trusty halogen oven and will now be taking my steamer pans & a fry pan.

Allways new unless it's given to us and we know it's history . My dad just gave us a vaude backpacking tent it's around six years old but very little use . So that's in store for our eldest to use on DofE if she wants to .

Most of our large things were bought as a package e.g tent carpet and footprint but most of the cooking stuff has been recycled from unwanted or unused things I had hanging around the kitchen.

I have no problem buying a tent secondhand but I knew what I wanted and couldn't get it secondhand at the time.

My camp kitchen is secondhand. I don't really mind about colour coordination however if there is a choice to be made I will go for blue which matches the tent but if its secondhand and useful and a good price I will go for it anyway. Everything is a bit blue now though so need some colourful bunting and solar lighting to brighten things up a bit!

We have 11 tents, some very old, some new, but I wouldn't personally buy a second-hand tent. Just haven't got the nerve for the argy-bargy if things go wrong!

Most of our kit was new... back in the 70s! Don't buy very much these days, as it's all lovely and functional and practical, and never did see the need to update for the sake of it.

I must admit, I've tended to buy stuff new, but always in sales or real reductions. I don't buy top-of-the-range anyway, so it's suited me. After all, why buy a 2nd. hand toilet tent when you can get one brand new from Argos for £3.99? Or a utility tent when you can get a Coleman Chef Annexe for £9.99?!!!
Seriously!
