I use a traditional farm campsite close to Salcombe in South Devon. Small on-site shop for the basics, clean and adequate facilities, no need to book, no marked pitches (just turn up and pitch where you want) no arrival and departure times. very friendly and helpful owners. Have never not been able to get a pitch (even on Bank Holiday Weekends and Regatta week).
Took my youngest and middle son + a friend just for an overnight in half term last weekend. 2 tents plus large canopy = £10 for all of us for the night!!!
We do use the site regularly (Camped there 4 times since April this year and have going there for the last 3 years) so they do "look after" us.
Can't say better than that!
