I'd be too embarrassed to offer, I'm quite shy. I'd probably suggest to OH that he offers, though. Last camping trip a large gaggle of girls next to us had no pegs for their group gazebo so we happily lent them out and felt quite good about it when they were all sat in it singing at 9pm, obviously enjoying themselves. I'd be too embarrassed to accept help too - though also would probably rather get it done ourselves as we need the practice!

We have helped at times and have been given help other times. Just like when we're at home really and our neighbours need something.

I offered to help when a couple with the same tent as me struggled, me and the daughter had it up in 10 minutes to the relief of the owners. I have been offered help...I always thought campers were generally a friendly bunch. :-)

Yes, I will offer to help if I see someone obviously struggling. If they don't need it, well that's fine.

yes i do offer help when needed, just last week i help a group they knew how to put there tent up just couldn't put the pin into the end of the poles as some of the poles selves had gone rusty. the poles hadn't fitted together correctly and were too long, cleaned the selves and went up easy as pie. the helping thing started with my dad helping people and I've followed it on.

I spend far too much time looking at tents, so can figure out how to put a tent up, but often 'pimp' the other half out to help others that need a bit of brute force (like the single mum trying to put up a long beach windbreak - one of those jobs that are much easier for a tall bloke than a short person).

Just noticed we have the same tent Nigel. 17 Haven't put ours up yet, can't wait until we can! Maybe you'll be around to help. 17

I always offer to help if people are struggling or not...an extra pair of hands can be quite useful...and can be an "Ice breaker" with your new(temporary) neighbours...

Just back from a brilliant weeks holiday in the company of my fellow campers...All met each other over the tent/awning erection/cup of tea ritual...and got on like a house on fire!!!

If anyone doubts the helpful and caring attitude of most of the UKCS membership on here...Get yourself off on a meet...No lack of help setting up on any meet I've attended...

Jelboy.

We are going tomorrow ferretlady too! Was supposed to be today, but been following forecast all week with severe weather warning, and have decided to postpone a day as I really didn't fancy trying to pitch our tent in gusty wind!

If I see you I will willingly offer a hand - hoping maybe someone will do the same for me as well!
