I'm never sure if these posts are started to spark debate or if there is an ignorance of some sorts to the many different forms and styles of camping....
We are total glampers through and through but that is because we choose to be, there is no keeping up with the Jones' or competition to see who has the best gear and set up, we do it purely because we like the comforts of home whilst we are away.
I would NEVER judge another camper because they had a "cheaper" tent than us and used less gear, cooked outside etc... What would be the point? we are all sharing the same experience of the great outdoors which, surely is why most of us camp anyway???
To the judgemental types out there I am probably the epitome of a tent snob as I have Cabanon AND Outwell tents!
I have finally found the right combination of tents after camping for several years and getting through many a tent, then selling it on and trying the next one. To be honest, I couldn't give a flying fart what anyone thinks, all I know is that my tents aren't going to go anywhere with us in them, they won't leak, look good and are a darn sight more comfortable than other tents we have had in terms of space, height, climate inside the tent etc... etc...
I like to use a 3 way fridge because I like my favourite tipple to be cold and my meat fresh, I prefer to use a kitchen tent so that the wind isn't constantly interfering when i'm cooking and I like to bung a heater on before I got to bed to take the chill off, I have carpets, table cloths, bunting and matching windbreaks but do I think my set-up looks good?...... Of course I do because it's mine NOT because I am a snob!
I think I put my way of camping down to my lifestyle, I work in fashion retail and have done so most of my life and so it is part of my daily routine to put outfits together and style my customers, team and store.... On the side, I like to dabble in a bit of interior design and i'm pretty sure this all plays a part in my penchant for matching camping gear!
So I guess what I am trying to say is, Yes!, I do have a matching dinner set, cooker and kettle for each tent, I do have cushions and sleeping bags that match too and yes!, if something doesn't match, I cover it with something that does, that's just my way of camping, I have absolutely nothing to prove and I certainly don't drive a B.M.W and have money to burn, I work my arse off to pay for these little luxuries and am proud of my set-ups. This is what I WANT camping to be for us and I love it and certainly wouldn't have it any other way

Snobbery does not come in to it for me,I have tried all types of tents from outwell, vango and many others. Comfort and practicality and durability are the aims of my purchases. Buy the right stuff and only buy it once. I have a Cabanon Aruba family tent (6 berth) with all optional extras, side and front canopy, extra sleeping pod, utility extension. Dependent on how many are coming we choose which accessories we take. A Cabanon Andorra (4 berth) smaller but takes all the Cabanon accessories we have for the Aruba. It also has a door front and back. A very flexible combination that can be adapted for all our camping needs, all of my stuff is tan and green so they match but I have not paid more than £150.00 for an immaculate hardly used tent. The 2 berth sleeping pod was second hand and brand new in the bag for £55.00. The only thing I got from Cabanon direct was the front sun canopy. Everything else second hand. I got a Cabanon Elzas for £40.00 off of Ebay with a sun canopy for shorter breaks for just the wife and myself. Spent less on all my Cabanon stuff than we spent buying our big Outwell family tent alone, (now sold on and still going strong.) Having Cabanon can be a very prudent buy and a lot cheaper than you think, no snobbery just good gear cheaply sourced. Heavy though. I love looking at all the various tents on sites,I do not judge others but often find people may deem others snobby campers because they are envious of what others have. That's human nature though.

Good reply 3mad,
...for us it's not a case of keeping up with the Joneses or having to get the latest gear, it's whatever we think we need and if we can afford it, obviously if we can afford a better quality version of something we'll do that, but we've bought plenty of things from ebay, poundshops etc. We started camping with a Gelert Cadiz we bought for £70, got a single gas cooker and a secondhand table, we slept on duvets from home in sleeping bags we'd borrowed, we slowly replaced these things with new versions as and when we could afford it. We now have a very nice set up, but if someone pitched up at the side of us with the kind of set up we had when we started we certainly wouldn't look down on them, in fact we've just given our old Gelert tent to friends who went away with us last weekend to help get them on their way and are now in a similar position to us when we started.
To me it seems like the people who are jealous of what others have are the ones accusing others of camping snobbery.
