Hi deserter, the speakers are from some hi-fi speakers I no longer use, so are quite efficient. You'll find car speakers work but will not be as loud for a given input signal.
Anything with over 95db 1w/1m is very good. A typical car speaker would be around 87db 1w/1m (each +3db is a doubling of output) eg a 90db 1w/1m speaker will be twice as loud as a 87db 1w/1m for any given input power.
There is an amplifier yes, mobile phones, mp3 players ect will not power normal speakers to a level above a whisper, so amplification is necessary.
The battery that powers the amplifier is good for 20-30 hours playtime at near maximum volume. It is a 7ah SLA.
The boxes are ported to increase bass response of the speakers which in turn means a more compact box. The standard approach for most loudspeakers on the market today.
It all sounds more complicated than it actually is I think.

My trailer wasn't just one for me, I actually started it as a business.
My trailer was the first prototype, I had another prototype which was slightly different, which I sold.
Due to a number of setbacks I had to stop the business. The website someone designed for me would very rarely pass on messages through the contact form.
After I stopped I had an email from the hosting site saying my inbox was full but there was no way I could access the inbox.
In the end I spent £30k on trying to get the business up and running before running out of money.
These trailers would still cost over £500 to make not including my labour.
Here's the other one.
Thanks Valkrider. Its a real shame that you were not able to continue the busisness after such finiacial and personal investment especially as you obviusly had a product that was in demand.
Here's mine and OH's newest project, for "Giraffen", my 40 year old retro tent:
LED- light strip, running from 10 AA batteries. The strip is mounted on a strip of wood that fits into the plastic hooks I can clip to the tent pole:
...and a crocheted holder for the battery pack, retro stile:

Keep in coming Pingvin, I am astounded at your ingenuity, industriousness and imagination. Love Giraffen's curtains, no wonder you gave it that name
Sarahir - beautiful cushion as before. I'm resting on my laurels too much and need to exercise some creative skills I feel: carry bag for the Hago stand perhaps... you're re-inspiring me.
This is our home made chuck box in situ this summer. It's from the plans by Blue Sky Kitchens, and works like a dream. Extra provisions storage, shelving, hanging and worktop space, that folds down into the stand and is easy to transport.
Edited to add - sorry...forget it. I can't figure out how to get photos on this forum.
