I notice the op has not posted back. I can't really see why folk bother to post threads like this, they know most dog lovers are going to be outraged. In the end one knows one's own dog and one has to use one's own judgement. I have no axe to grind here, I am not a dog owner, but that does not make me a dog hater... Or a dog lover.

Still nothing from the op. Maybe they're too embarrassed by the responses. But surely it would be good manners to thank everyone for their comments.

Appreciate this is two and a half years later.....
Apologies I wasn't being rude I just don't use this website much - only just seen the responses now!

I believe my original question was slightly mis understood. I stated in my question I was aware it was too hot and didn't really know what people did when they had to leave their dogs. Considering it was my first time camping with her I didn't realise how easy it was to take her most places!

Please rest assured doggie was never left alone and she regularly camps with us now. This trip two and a half years ago she very much enjoyed the beach - especially when she slipped her collar and chased the seagulls 😂

I recently walked past a car with a couple of policemen breaking the drivers window. Hot day, dog left inside-unbeleivably with all the windows shut! So I’m guessing the expense would serve as a salutory lesson... Not to mention subsequent prosecution.
