All very nice.

BUT!!! you cannot beat bacon and eggs with a big mug of tea when camping in October in the New Forest as we will be next week.  Bring on the weather and fry ups. (Proper camping with tent not Motorhome or caravan.) ( Okay so we have plug in and heating!! Nobody is perfect!!)

Something my Dad had in WW2 !  He called it Tobruk stew, 'cos the ingredients were pretty much staple stuff when they were besieged ....

Cube a can of corned beef, add it to a tin of baked beans in a saucepan, add two cansful of water with a beef oxo cube .. heat gently until it is bubbling but before the cubes disintegrate!

Serve with bread to dunk and clear plates ..yumm.

This sounds remarkably like "campers stew" which milkybar (Neil and Marie) were telling us about when we met them at Fforest Fields last week!

I remember as a kid my dad who was (still is) an engineer worthy of Professor Brainstorm, made a camping oven from a biscuit tin. Mum made full sunday roast with Yorkshires from scratch, for 4 in it. I didnt appreciate what a fantastic achievement that was at the time.
I cheat by making my yorkshires in advance, freeze them and then once they have defrosted reheat in a very hot, dry double skillet - they come out smashing !
That Coleman oven looks tempting, and as for the waffle iron - I really NEED one !

One of our favourites is still liver, bacon, sausages and onions with a large helping of mash and lots of gravy.

I could cook a Sunday dinner on 2 rings, maybe even just on 1 using a 'Heritage pan' that MIL gave me, for those of you that have not heard of them it works on the 'Dutch Oven' principle.   You can put a joint of meat in it surrounding by all the vegetables you can fit in it, and cook slowly over a very low flame.  Still trying to figure out how to cook some Yorkies though, its not the same without them.  Any ideas?

i have seen a fold up stove top oven and it was on this site somewhere cant find it now to link to it but it looked just the job for roast chicken and yorkies just an insulated metal box with hole in bottom by looks of pics

but so far the most adventurouse(my spelling is sad) ive been so far on two rings was chicken tika massala(no not from a tin....or jar) with mixed vegetable pillau rice

or the beef stew with red wine(mrs bought 3lt box of wine and couldnt drink it so i put it to use) with home made dumplings

i find it usefull to plan meals before we go as im sick of taking a big box of food and bringing half a box back unused EVERY time
