I took my children alone camping at a C&CC club site at Chipping Norton last year, thinking that a Club site in the middle of nowhere would be peaceful - hah!  It was packed and there were hoardes of teenagers running everywhere. I couldn't take my 4 & 3 year olds to the park bit as they were all sitting around on the equipment and I felt intimidated let alone my small ones!!  At night, I got the children off to sleep and then the running games started, they were racing round the site in packs, tripping over my guy-ropes as they went. It rained which I thought would dampen things but they just sheltered under a tree and started again. I have no idea where the parens were or even which area of the campsite they were in. Eventually I couldn't stand the noise and went out to talk to them - I explained I had 2 young children who needed their sleep and although I understood they all wanted to enjoy themselves, could they go and do it near their own 'vans/tents/whatever.  They stared at me for a bit and then one asked "Do you want us to zip it?!". At which point I said yes, that's exactly what I want. Ok was the reply and they took themselves off back to their own units.   Hurray!!!!!

I am with you on this one Angie...I think we are all too often afraid to even speak to kids/teens when they are in groups for fear of being verbally abused (or worse). Sure, this happens - but lets not forget that there are a lot of goods kids out there. I think a lot of problems occur when adults speak to teens in an agressive tone 'can't you all go and play somewhere else?' instead of speaking to them like we would another adult 'would you mind just turning that down a little as I'm struggling to get my toddler to sleep?'

But again, where were the parents of these teens Angie? Presumably they weren't old enough to be staying in units on their own, so they must still be under parent supervision....? *sigh* come on parents!!
