I know what I'm doing...Husband thinks he does.
The way it works for us is this..I count to ten and then breath....an hour at most to set up then alls well. No point in arguing. We know don't we ladies that we would have had it ready in half the time and with a lot less efort..but I also realise that my husband needs to feel valued....

WOW! Now I'm glad I'm going on my own!!!
Just for the record, I read instructions, but I'm not your usual man.
if one person knows what they are doing, they should be in charge really. Shame we don't live in a perfect world, just sometimes.

To add to my original post of having the hubby well trained, I also rembered that I laugh a lot at him when we are pitching things.

We bought an Outdoor outhouse XL last weekend, for £25 instead of £55 as it was the display model and had two small holes in it.  So came sold as seen, with no instructions.  I tried to pay attention as we took tent down in the shops field, but there was a delay of about a week in trying it out at home.

Well I rembered fairly well, but DH could not remember and I couldn't stop laughing at him getting in a tangle and not understanding what I was trying to do. We did think the neighbours would wonder what the hell we were doing, with comments like:

'Put that in there, no push it harder'  then followed by hysterical giggles from me.

It takes forever to do anything, but it is very funny.

It is somewhat daunting arriving at a pitch that is completely empty and realising that all the stuff in your car has to be put on that pitch or there is no bed or shelter or food!!!!!!

It only works wth us because hubby is definatly in charge of the tent..I am in charge of choosing the pitch...if we can. Hubby is German(bless him) and everything has to be done slowly and methodicaly so no danger of breaking anything!!!!! This can be slightly off putting as everything is done so logically and logic is not my strong point!!!!

However the thing that threatends this sence of harmony are our 3 boys 6, 4 and 2....the best thing is to keep them in the car with a DVD as you cannot take your eyes off them for a second!!!!! They woud probably be alright this year...but I keep imagining something terrible is happening to them while I am trying to thread a tent pole through....LOL

take care CJ

What a wonderful thread - it makes me soooo relieved that others are the same.

I like Spiculum's idea about the frequent wine stops altho I doubt my husband would go for that - why live for now when you can stress about the future is his motto I think.

I keep quiet with my teeth gritted & try to think about his good points but that doesn't last much longer than tipping out the pegs I'm afraid.

Ah well, I suppose it's a bit like childbirth - you quickly forget about it afterwards & then want to do it again next year.....

Totally agree. Unfortunately, we often have one person who knows what they're doing and another who thinks they know what they're doing!
