I wanted to share this poem that I have pinned to the fridge door.
DUST AS YOU MUST
Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better, to paint a picture or write a letter, bake a cake or plant a seed, ponder the difference between want and need?
Dust if you must, but there's not much time, with rivers to swim and mountains to climb, music to hear and books to read, friends to cherish and life to lead.
Dust if you must, but the world's out there With the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair, A flutter of snow, a shower of rain. This day will not come around again.
Dust if you must, but bear in mind, old age will come and it's not kind. And when you go - and go you must - You, yourself, will make more dust!
Life is far too short to dust, lets go camping!!!

Hi there dont post much but had to on this subject.
So just got back from 12 days in the lakes my son is 5 we are 35 25
my son climbed a 750 ft and 550 ft mountain and absolutly loved it stood in amazement at the views and how hed climed the rocks at the top.paddled in lake with mum and dad took boat rides off the mysterious mountains or bays.
played with all nationalities of childern day after day on a very safe relaxed site
toasted marshmallows and made popcorn and played glowsticks night after night with new found friends under the stars.
and fell into his sleeping bag night after night with the excitment of another day of absolutly fresh air and playing.
or maybe hed prefer getting a taxi for 2 hours squished, sit in airport lounge another 2 hours, sit on plane after a very long queue, sit on coach another 1 hour or so with hoards of people then stay in pool all day whilst mum and dad drink lager after lager then spend night after night in bar till fall aslepp either in pushchair or on seats pushed together till a rather drunk dad carries them home night after night to have to at end repeat the whole airport process again.oh yes and eat at mcdonalds each day as yes the ever so popular maccies is in cyprus portugal etc etc.

I have converted all my friends and work colleagues to my passion for camping. I even organised a work camping session in May gone in just a field with loos with no pub, shops, electric nearby. Most said they'd only come late Saturday afternoon and leave first thing Sunday as moaned about weather forecast, lack of things to do , for old foggies ( never seen any one over 70 putting up a Hartford XXL!!) kids need proper beds so won't sleep etc. Well ...when they got there after we'd been there since friday afternoon, saw our set up , the kids playing happily in the stream, playing, making friends, adults chilling, singing to guitar round big camp fire with marshmellows, then kids flat out having even a LIE in!!!
Was nice meeting partners/family of people you've worked with and all the other activities already mentioned here for free fresh air fun. They all begged me to book for a long weekend next year and consult regulalry with me on tents, airbeds, where to get glo sticks from ( as they had them in the 80's and didn't realise they still existed!!). Officially converted on a mass group scale!! lol
------------- It always rains on tents. Rainstorms will travel thousands of miles, against prevailing winds for the opportunity to rain on a tent.
