3 hours? When we go with the entire family in summer it takes 4-5 hours to be fully set up. Last summer we booked an extra night and intentionally left a day early so we could take as long as we wanted to pack away.
On the flip side, if I go alone or with a friend I am set up fully and a beer in hand within 45 minutes! Based on that, I blame the wife!

I can relate to this. I generally camp alone and it takes roughly two hours to set up camp but if I have arranged to meet somebody at a campsite and they get there before me it can take several hours...not least because they have already set up their gear and then insist on helping me with mine, so I then have to go round checking that they have done it the way I want it done. The, 'No, that's ok thanks, I'll do it myself' doesn't work and if it does they then stand there gossiping and distracting me from getting on with it. I can't say, 'Would you mind hissing off and giving me a bit of space for a couple of hours and then I will come and talk to you' because that sounds a bit rude.

This! I can completely understand. If somebody helps me pitch my tent, for example.. They do some of the guy lines, I have to check/redo them anyway. They can't get my sleeping bag out of the bag properly either. Even if these things are done perfectly it doesn't feel right until I do it!

Made me smile. I go camping at dog agility shows, me one child and 1 dog. No electric lookup so no gadgets. Until last year I had a zafira and I always had to do 2 trips. 1 to transport all the camping gear then once I had set up a return trip to pick up child and dog. In fairness though that did include gazebo and stock for my trade stand. When the zafira broke down after our last trip last year and the cost of repairs would be more than the car value I gave in and bought a Vauxhall vivaro van. Now all the camping gear, stall and stock live permanently in the van.

The kitchen is my essential. I have a kitchen unit, a cooker that runs off gas and one of those little suitcase cookers as well. I also have a crate full of pots, pans, crockery and cooking equipment. We like to eat well and as most of our shows last 2 weeks I just couldn't afford to eat out all the time. Downside is friends who camp at the same show know I don't mind cooking so will often ask if they provide the food will I cook. My record is Sunday dinner for 14 made on 3 gas rings

I have to ask, how do you begin to cook a Sunday dinner without an oven?!
