Also - if they have cc for caravanners, and c&cc for campers and caravanners, why cant we have one just for campers? Thats not fair.
We did have one, the Camping Club of Great Britain and Ireland, then they decided to admit caravanners and changed the name to the Camping and Caravanning Club.
The reason I belong to the Camping and caravanning club is that it is a NON profit organisation set up for the benifit of the campers. I find the caravanning club a much more corporate organisation that gives me the impression it is less inclusive.
I do think though that these organisation do have to BOTH Make provsion for younger clientele... However I suspect the reality is that there is more possibility of making money out of caravans/and motorhomes then people in tents. Have you not noticed how at camping shows there is less and less about tents and more about motorhomes in the £40,000 bracket which makes even caravans look cheap!
I went away 10 years ago, with my girlfriend, to a campsite in Paignton. It just happened to have a CC Rally on at the time. I couldnt afford a new Motorhome at the time, and had an old Mercedes 207D camper with an aftermarket conversion. We both felt quite intimidated with the stuck up attitude and snobbery of the CC members, with their 40 grand Caravans and Motorhomes. It was obvious we were being looked down upon, as if we were not worthy to be there.
It put me off the CC for life, even though i can now afford new vans, i dont want to associate with people like this. When i occasionally read the mags from CC and C&CC they still have a stuffy out of date attitude. They should be trying to attract younger people and those on a budget.
I'm in my second year of membership and what with their age concession discounts, the camping miles scheme and the site fee reductions for members, I don't think the "membership" actually costs me anything at all
Hi all.
We have been members of both clubs for ten years, but we now stick to the Camping and caravan club,The only problem we get is that some of the site wardens now called Managers forget these are CLUB sites for the enjoyment of the paying members and can make it difficult with rigidly sticking to club rules that may not be appropriate for some sites,
What the C&CC is in need of,is a good forum on its website were these problems can be discussed out in the open.
But please do not be put off by what I just said,If you are not a rowdy family The C&CC is well worth the cost, every site you visit you know will be clean and safe, and the members are mostly friendly and helpful. My wife and I are both in our late sixties and we have tried Both caravan and motor caravan but each time we have gone back to our tents It just takes us a bit longer to set up these days and we know use a high rise inflatable bed.
But we think there is no substitute for been under canvas
We hope you all Have a lovely seson.

I agree wit last posts....magazine is the most boring thing ever and the site book has the least inspiring pictures you could imagine. The sites however are very good and we have only ever met very helpful staff on them. Facilities can always be relied upon to be up to scratch and sites very clean and tidy.
Value for money for joining very much depends on how much camping you are going to do but both occasions I have joined I got the direct debit refund so worked out ok even though we didn't get away too often.
We love the c&cc sites anbd only ever stay on them ever since we had a two bad experiences of drunken rowdy campers keeping the whole site up until morning light. With two young kids we need our sleep! C&cc sites are always clean and friendly, with a no noise policy after 11 which suits us down to the ground. They also seem to be in great areas too.
