Just stopped for a quick coffe & catch up on here then I'm off to Deers Glade - hoping to meet more UKCS folk there.

I've nearly finished packing the car - just the last food bits to do. Decided to take the nevada 3 for it's first real outing and to try out the Vango canopy on a campsite rather than in the garden!

Hope everyone who is away this weekend has a great time - the forcast for our side of the counrty looks fantastic!

I was camped at Church Stile a couple of weeks ago. Paddled round the outer edge of Wastwater and as far up the inlet as possible, and too far down the outlet. There had been a lot of rain and it was flowing really fast. Had to bail out (as in jump off) and drag it back up the bank. I have a plan to paddle round all the main lakes, but to count each one must be done in a day. So far Wastwater is the only one completed,  I have been round Ulswater a couple of times but not in one go. The weather has always stopped me from completing it. Hope the conditions are good for you.

Ive just had a mad notion to go this weekend.....Always wanted to visit Clactoll Beach(Sutherland in the Highlands) five and a half hours away!! E mailed the site..so just waiting to see if theres a pitch available for tomorrow now...Talk about mad impulses...LOL!!

Right folks Clachtoll to far for an impulse weekend booked in at Lettershaws Farm Abington...from this afternoon..any local members having a wee drive over the holiday weekend and fancy sitting in a feild for an hour or so Im in a Hi gear Gobi 4 man tent...red Vectra..and a black trailer...Can stretch to a cuppa and a digestive biccy...But bring your own beer if you plan stopping longer.........

We went to Abingdon 4x4 festival this weekend.

Pitched in the dark (actually it felt like broad daylight with the Landie spotlights lighting up the field) on Friday night, tried my new arctic sleeping bag this weekend and that was marvellous and toasty warm. Evenings and mornings were cold and damp, but the days were lovely and sunny - packed the tent up dry yesterday afternoon, and was sad to think that's its last use this season.

We're off on our first trip this weekend and very excited as well! 2 nights in our new tent! Can't wait. Just hoping we can keep the kids warm enough at night, as we have not invested in EHU.

Going to fit every extra duvet i possibly can in the car to go with the sleeping bags and mats etc.

Just back from 2 good nights in the hills above Abington.. though I thought I was pitched in a wind tunnel!!!!! Wind whistling down the glen all weekend...Spent yesterday at Wanlockhead Scotlands highest Village...and went down the mine visited the 2nd oldest  co-op library(started by the miners) and had a tour round some cottages taking you through the ages...Highly reccomended if your on your way to/from Scotland and have an hour or two.... 20mins off the M74 through scenic countryside...Follow signs for Drumlarnig Castle...Thanks to the caravanner who helped me with the tent this morning in the wind and pouring rain...Off to unpack now....
