Hey guys,

Got back from Wolds Way yesterday after some 40mph winds throughout Sunday and Sunday night but pleased to report our Nevada M survived despite the carnage around us. :)

There were 4 tents in our party. Two Cabanon trailer tents, a Montana and our Nevada. Our windbreak was the first victim snapping in half at the joints. Then we rushed to take the gazebos down.

We went out for lunch to get out of the winds for a while and came back to find the canopy had been blown down off the front of one of the trailer tents. What was worse was looking around and seeing some of the other tents basically in heaps or ripped to shreds with snapped poles sticking out of them and never seen so many broken windbreaks just dumped by the bins.

We expected the trailer tents to be okay and the Monty with it's steel poles so our Nevada was the only concern but once we'd replaced some rather bent pegs with stronger ones, then aligned the car to block some of the wind it survived right through. By Monday morning there was only our camp, another Monty and a small 2 man which was out of the wind by the shower block remaining.

Felt bad for the other people but so pleased about our tent. Least now we know it's been well and truly tested!

I should probably add that the wind was blowing against the back right corner of the Nevada. That was probably favourable since (as you will know) the back of the Nevada is a bit more streamlined than the front.

I also took out the side storm-canopy pole to stop the wind getting in underneath it and trying to lift it up. Sure it made an annoying flapping sound after that but worth doing I thought.

We took a hammering one night in Wales....the rain was phenomenal....couldn`t hear anything over it.

Lots of damage done elsewhere on the site, and lots of people left early the next morning.

The wind was very strong gusts but not a continual onslaught.

No problems with our lovely cabanon and the deltas held tight

Ha ha October hopefully but even I know it wont be sunny then but you never know October sun might make an appearance as soon as I pitch. Val I've watched most of your youtube vids and that dog of your is so lovely. So is your Bell. I'm very keen to own a canvas tent but OH saysss no....Just wondered if you knew any tricks to get him going (canvas wise )

Take him out in horrendous winds, torrential rain in a polyester one, reckon he'll soon convert to canvas!

I wouldn't got back to polyester - the quechua base is great as a utility but the amount of condensation on the walls is awful (not any more so when cooking which you would expect, just first thing in the morning when you walk in there)

If it's a cost issue I'd go for a second hand canvas way before a polyester tent (as long as it had decent curtains)  I'm not that keen on the look of traditional frames, prefer the pyramids, bells and ridges to be honest

Although my cabanon montreal is 'sort of' traditional
