I think the evolution of camping comforts has broadened the camping market hugely .... theres no way I would be a basic style camper, its just not me, but having some creature comforts means we've really got into it as a family.

The kids are having a ball, I'm happy with my little kitchen, decent cooker and comfy beds and wardrobes for clothes, and the hubby sits around taking rubbish with his mates.

Our car is literally stuffed to the gills for a 2 day break, if I could fit more in I'd take it but we've reached our limit.

As long as other people aren't invading my pitch I couldnt care a twaddle what they brought with them, infact I like seeing the difference in how people do camp, its quite fascinating!

I have just bought the Relum Izmir so I can indulge in glamping, sure its a practical and lightweight tent for canvas, sure it will stand up to the weather, be cool in the heat and warmer in the cold, it already looks good, so I am looking forward to using my sewing skills to create totally unnecessary pretty things for it, spending some of my disposable income on solar lights, and candles.
I will be camping in it for about seven weeks this year, all non EHU, mostly in basic camp sites. I have collected over the years, all the bells and whistles a camper could possibly need, Enjoyed myself enormously every time I camp, and been safe, warm and happy in the very worst weather, Camped in huge groups, and solo camped, perhaps the question should be about the footprint we leave when camping,? Ecologically, emotionally and socially.
I leave a small footprint, upset no one, and return renewed and energised from camping. Do I now have to worry that my solar lights are upsetting the purists?
