------------- Life is what happens when you've made other plans
Hi we take a chilli on our first day camping which we cooked the day before at home. Makes life a easier on your first day camping and allows you to relax and get into the holiday mood.
We did manage egg and chips on our last holiday using oven chips under the grill. Our neigbours smelt them and polite asked for a few!!!

Everyone brings happiness to my life, some when they arrive and some when they leave.
boy, all those foods are so wonderful when camping, I don't know what I'm going to do next season. Have made a life change in eating and don't really eat those foods. I'm going to have to find a way to re do some of my old meals for camping.
Gosh, this thread is older than me .
I like nothing better than to camp by a lake / river & catch me a trout and eat it. I'll admit I've not been too successful in that regard (twice only) so I take a tin or two of bacon grill as a standby.
I understand that the correct title for tinned meat, veg and tatties is CAMP STEW !
Me and my Brats have this on our first night when we camp, no mess, no effort and very welcome after spending 7/8 hours travelling, and TWO yes TWO hours putting up the tent. Hoping next year said Brats will be old enough to help instead of dashing off to play leaving granddad struggling with the giant Lichfield. If you see me at Tregarten park next summer please help!! i`ll even share my bottle of malt.
We always have a full English in the morning. I insist on being taken out for dinner though. It's not a holiday for me if I have to slave over a stove like I do at home, and OH doesn't cook.
We occasionally do bangers and burgers on a disposable barbie while we're sorting everything out the first night though. Won't bother now we've got the Khyam that'll go up in less time than it takes to get a barbie hot though!
One tin of stewed steak, one tin of mini hotdog sausages, one tin of carrots, one tin of sweetcorn, one tin of new potatoes....bung it all in a pan and stir till hot....extra gravy if required and nice with some crusty french loaf!
anything with pitta bread and salad is good for me but not the kids, hamburgers, rolls and cheesy pasta does them fine, but it wears a bit thin after a few days, just give them crisps and biscuits after that (i know i'm a bad parent but they love it and they are on holiday).
Camping risotto too - fry off onions, mushrooms, pepper, chicken and lardons, chuck a bit of whatever wine you are drinking in too...then mix with boil in the bag rice after the rice has cooked but add a chicken stock cube to the water that the rice cooks in. Again v nice with crusty french loaf...and the rest of the wine!
