These 5th wheelers were not rented they belong to us and so do the trucks all brought and payed for. We do not have a lack of driving skills do not comment on what you know nothing about.

No-one moved the Tent it was 2 tent pegs and a table to which 1 plastic plate fell onto the floor un- noticed,The reason we had to pull forward was to allow the truck to be unhitched but with 40years experience i'm surprized you did not know, that a 5 wheeler and a wagon are NOT the same. Actually I have 45 years and yes I do own a HGV licence,
Good evening.
First, we do not own any plastic plates.
Our table was situated under the front canopy of our tent, and that canopy was secured with 3 x straps and Delta pegs, within the perimeters of our pitch. Our cooker was left on our table (because that's where we use it).
Upon our return, we noticed our canopy had been un-pegged, cooker was on the floor and table off to one side. Tyre tracks were clearly evident on the pitch and up to where our table had been. No-one offered any explanation, or apology, which rattled us a bit. The warden implied we our attitude was the problem, hence this thread to find out what other tent campers would feel, in our shoes.
I'm interested to know how you found this thread? I did send a link to the warden, to raise awareness of how others might feel in similar circumstances. Other than that, I have kept details of all parties anonymous.
No response was forthcoming from the Campsite.

I accept that the road between us was very narrow, and one-way, and that your units are huge and more difficult to manoeuvre than, say, a car and caravan combination.
Maybe the warden should have kept the pitches free, opposite the ones you had booked, since they knew you were due to arrive at the site.
My point was the total lack of communication / consideration, and that all we knew was that our tent canopy and belongings had clearly been moved, to get you in.
I hope you had a good stay at the site, once you got properly sited.

Quote: Originally posted by lidds0 on 03/9/2013 We’ve just taken our 4 year old grandson camping for a few days away at a 5 star campsite in Cornwall, to give him a break before school starts. We’ve been to this site before, several times, some years ago, so wanted to visit again. We asked for a quiet pitch, and asked if anyone would be camping immediately behind us. We were told that pitch wasn’t booked.
On the second day of our hols, 2 families arrived together and pitched their tents next to each other, making a communal eating area in the middle. There was a pitch still between us, but they pitched a pup tent on the vacant pitch, about 6 feet from the back of our tent and as far away from themselves as possible. The kids decided to shriek about and play with water and make a mud bath. We went to ask at reception, if there was supposed to be anyone on the pitch behind us and were told there wasn’t. We explained the situation and the warden had a quiet word. The pup tent was moved. All good, we thought.
On the fourth day, we arrived back at the campsite after a relaxing day at Padstow (has to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and Rick Stein's fish and chips are fantastic!), to find there were 2 x huge fifth wheelers in the 2 pitches opposite our tent. Then we noticed our kitchen table (which we left under our sun canopy) had been moved to one side and our stuff was on the floor. Then noticed our canopy straps were flapping, the Delta pegs had clearly been removed and repositioned and there were x 3 huge tyre marks in the grass, right up to within inches of our tent front. Clearly, the huge fifth wheelers and their equally mammoth US tow trucks had been within inches of our tent and equipment, in order to get into position for their pitches (the 3m wide road, which separated us, was obviously inadequate for their turning circle), and someone had moved our tent canopy back and moved our stuff so they could do so! No idea why they would do this, since there were lots of huge, empty pitches with easy access.
The owners of the fifth wheelers were standing talking, saw us surveying our pitch and just said: "It was a bit tight!" We weren't happy, so tootled along to reception and told the lady there what had happened. We didn’t go in all guns blazing but we were upset, as we explained the situation. She said if our tent canopy and gear had been moved it “Wasn’t on” and said the warden would come and speak to us.
A warden then did came out to our pitch to see us and 'discuss' it (within hearing of the people we had complained about, which wasn’t great!) and told us it was he who had moved our stuff and canopy, or, he said: "They would have hit it"! We asked why they couldn’t have used one of the empty, easily-accessible pitches, and were told they had specifically requested those two pitches.
He said they have the right to move stuff. He then said he ‘had attended to our first complaint’, but now we "Had upset his wife (on the desk) with our attitude”.
We asked him to see our point of view. We have carefully pitched our tent (which cost us a small fortune, but that’s beside the point), and we came back from a day out to find someone has clearly moved the front canopy and our stuff. Clearly the huge vehicles had been under our sun canopy area, as they manoeuvred to get into their pitches. We presumed, of course, that the fifth wheel owners had done it. We suggested a note left, to confirm it had been moved by the warden, would have explained and diffused the situation.
We told the warden we sent our apologies to his wife if we upset her, but we most certainly did not go in with any ‘attitude’, other than being upset.
We didn’t complained about the number of dogs that were off-lead (which is supposedly against the campsite rules); I saw this on several pitches, with one dog a few pitches away from us being let out of the tent on its own for an early morning pee, or the family who rocked up one evening and decided to have their music blaring out at full-blast all evening (my husband decided, after a good while, to go and have a quiet word, only to find there were 2 other campers already there and all asking him to turn it down a bit).
Would you have felt happy, if your tent and stuff had been moved in your absence, and you had no idea who by? Are we too fussy?
Fussy I would say that is putting it midly. You spent 4 days on this site yet went to reception on 2 occasions that you admite to complaining.Fancy complaining about a childs pup tent that you admite was 6ft away, and I add there was a wooden fence inbetween you both. Why did you not book that pitch as well if you wanted it left empty?.AS for your 4th day if you so wanted to make a mountain out of a molhill then that is what you have done, but you could of at least told it as it was and not as you wanted to see it.Yes I agree 2 guide ropes were removed and a small table NOT your tent. A plastic plate did fall onto the floor un-noticed. They were removed by the Warden just in case, There were NO tyre marks on your pitch. No one had moved your canopy. For your information these pitches had been booked and paid for in September 2012. When we last spent 3 weeks there. The pitches next to us were not suitable for us not that this is any concern of yours. However if you wanted a quite pitch why did you take a pitch right by the dog walk and right by the access to the childrens play area? As for the 5th wheelers there was only 1 involved ME and MY HUSBAND. So Why mention our friends or involve them. As there was only one parked opposite you. That can be seen clearly from your photographs. There is also a wooden fence a path then another fence between us and them. Yes you did see my husband and his friend talking, as they saw you. My husband said to you and your husband I am so sorry but we had to move your guy rope, to that he was wanting to explain what had happened but you all huffed and walked back into the tent. You did however go to reception all guns blazing because I walked in when you were shouting at the recepionist, I walked out as I did not know at the time that all this fuss has been caused, As for hearing you and the Warden how in gods name would we have heard anything of this unless we were outside? The warden acted in a proffessional way trying to make sure we got onto the pitch safely and no-ones belongings were damaged in the process. If something had been damaged anything I could of understood all this. If I had of thought you would of caused this much trouble over 2 pegs I'd have left you a note myself. I would also like to know what gives you the god dame right to photograph our property and put it on a web site. The pitch you were on was too small for your tent and as you were trying to get your volvo on as well that is when the comment was said it is a bit tight, but you turned that round to your liking. It's a pity when upon your departure you did not pay as much attention to the safety of packing your vehicle as you were clearly overlaoded. You stated in your reveiw that your tent canopy had been removed No-one removed it, You then said later on Our huge vehicle went under it PLEASE NOTE our huge vehicle does not go under tent canopies we go over them, You should read the terms and conditions of the site paragraph 4.5 to cut it short any person found causing offence to staff or other guests will be asked to leave and count yourself very lucky. By some of the nasty comments of this forum manly caused by you I am glad that most of the sites we go on have very few tents. However I have no gripe with tent people, We are not nasty people to make nasty comments about anyone unless upsey by people. After all would you camp in a tent when you could camp in that? Everybody to there own I only wish people would realize there are always two sides to a story and try not to be so nasty,

No, your husband (and the other people standing with him, when we arrived back on site) absolutely did not apologise and nor did he offer any explanation other than 'It was a bit tight'.
Next, nobody was in reception when we went to have a word. There were no guns blazing.
Your tyre tracks were up to our tent front. Should I post a photo of that, as well?
You think our vehicle was overloaded? We have a Thule back up box and a roof box. Since they were within their weight limits, that statement is nonsense.
Yes, I realise that due to the height of your vehicle, it would have had to go 'over it' instead of under my tent canopy, and that's how we realised the canopy had been unpegged and pushed back (along with our stuff) to get you in.
Yes, I would prefer to camp in our tent than to camp in your fifth wheel actually, amazing though it must seem to you.
Have a nice day.
