Hi again
What I was doing is highlighting what some members fail to see when condemning other members for things they personally find offensive, I personally do not think, or take offence if a dog or human urinates on grass were nature takes care of it very quickly. But would prefer for everyone sake, for it not to take place, it does from both sources so why don't we just forget about urine on the grass it will not affect any living thing. If a member as not yet got a receptacle to use I think you should have, if you don't want to walk to the toilet. But should anyone be took short It is better under a bush or behind the tent out of site than on the ground sheet .
But feces should not be deposited on the campsite, as this does contain living inclusions that can be harmful to humans especially children. Even if the owner collects most of it some escapes and could do damage to other campers. This is the reason dogs are totally banded from some parks, beaches and campsites.
OK I will as woofers says agree to disagree on some of the content of this post, but you must agree there as been a lot of content about what some members of the human race find an untouchable subject
All the best
Rex.

Hi I would like to point out any dog even if he has all the bits can be trained to pee on command.
Ask any dog handler ie. police, prison or armed forces you don't see them peeing every where while working/training or even waiting for something to kick off. They are trained to pee etc. on command as to not interfere with their working.
Before I'm accused of being anti dog I love to see well behaved dogs on sites.
I would suggest to take an old clothes softner bottle, they have quite a big hole to point percy in, and have a tight lid so you could dispose in the morning! This is a solution I used for my two boys who never need the loo at home but do when camping (must be the cold!!!)
(not sure about this solution if you have girls though)
Being a campie newbie and so far haven't suffered the 2am call, I feel I need to be prepared for this and will have to purchase a collecting device for such an eventuality.

Gosh! Excuse me for not reading the whole thread, but, and it may be slightly OT, on our jollies in Brittany this year we did spot an extraordinary number of French drivers caught short at the side of the road and not making any attempt to hide it! It also reminds me of an incident several (or more) years ago when I was driving home from Edinburgh-ish well before all the new services appeared on the A74. My plan was to hold on until Southwaite services on the M6. I made it to the M6 and almost to Southwaite but there was no way I was going to make it. I pulled off at junction whatever-it-was and found a good place to pull over. I checked up the road and saw nothing coming so I started to do what I had to do. And then a tractor towing bales at 1mph appeared followed by about 30 cars. Every time I saw one of the French blokes, it reminded me of this.
Anyhoo, notwithstanding the above, what's wrong with a bucket that you chuck in the loo/cdp in the morning.

There is a device called a Shewee that enables girls to do just the same!
A friend of mine found it hard to get on with though, and instead bought herself a female urinal bottle from a shop that sold everythgin from incontinence aids to wheelchairs.
I'm with the people who thinks it would be disgusting to do that! My son is 13 now but I would never have let him do that. Its not very nice to pitch up by some bushes or hedge and think that people have been using them as a toilet even if it was only the odd occasion, if everyone thought 'just the once is ok' I'm sure the campsites wouldn't be very pleasant places to stay. We don't have a bucket or anything and if any of us need the toilet in the middle of the night no matter how far away we are from the toilets and whatever the weather is like we just automatically get a coat on and toddle off to the loos.
My personal opinion is respect and consideration for the campsite and other campers, the toilets (not the bushes) are there to be used, there is no excuse and if it is a problem then buy a flippin bucket for goodness sake and teach your kids the right thing to do!
Rexgrant, on eBay now bidding for a Porta Potti 345. If that fails, it's going to be a luggable loo or a kampa khazi!
I must say reading all the veiws expressed in this thread as it has progressed has changed my mine from 'it's quite OK to do an occasional one in the bush' to thinking it's not so nice if many people do an occasional one in the same place. Campsites are the great outdoors but they do need to be respected so everyone can enjoy them time and time again.
Isn't it amazing how a thread can generate so much interest and opinion? Although we haven't had to face this problem yet, after reading some of the posts I am even more certain that our next camping purchase will include a toilet facility of some description - I just need to figure out how to fit something like that in an already full car!!
Our kampa khazi is one of my best ever camping buys, but I do think it makes everyone a bit lazy and it's probably used more than is strictly needed!
Sabalias, the kampa khazi doesn't really take up much room in the car as it's hollow. I put our dirty laundry in it for the journey home, once it's been emptied, swilled out with disinfectant and dried.
