I think you`ll need sleeping mats, honestly. The ground is very hard stuff to sleep on and you`ll need more than a sleeping bag between you and it. Cellular mats will be considerably more comfortable.

We used to go cycle camping and the basic list went something like...

Lightweight tent. (A Vango Force Ten qualified as lightweight in my youth!!)

Lightweight sleeping bags and cellular mats.

Piece of tarp to sit on.

Single cannister CampingGaz stove (the little fold up type.)

Nesting pan, 2 aluminium plates and 2 mugs, plus 2 spoons and one knife.

One very small towel each, plus toiletries. (Two toothbrushes!!!!) We had a stolen bar towel for dishes, if I remember.

Minimal clothes and personal stuff, plus first aid kit.  Waterproofs annd spare shorts compulsory!

Some food..you have to carry snack food while cycling, because you can end up in terrible trouble if your blood sugar levels go too low. Plus quite a lot of water.

We had four panniers each and we broke it up as one rear pannier each for camping gear and sleeping bag, other rear one for personal stuff, front panniers split between bikey stuff and things like cameras and food. Hubby would usually take the heavier tent and I would take the mats on the back racks.

We went to the pub at night, or shopped as we got towards the end of a day. Breakfast HAD to be hot tea, plus bread with honey or cheese.

Hey! You didn't have a dog called 'Timmy', did you, and go to Kirrin Island?

We are going to give minimalist a go and take off on the motorbike.  Think we have thought of everything:

Tent and 2 mats strapped to the forks.

Me - shoulder bag with 2 sleeping bags, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap and flannels and spare undies/socks.  Also a torch.

Andy - smaller bag with solid fuel cooker and spare fuel tablets, knife fork and spoon each, 2 mess tins, 2 mugs, tea towel and fire starter tool.

We thought we could buy a disposable barbecue to cook an evening meal, or if the weather isn't good then off to the nearest pub.

Why do all our friends and relatives think we are completely off our trolleys???
