Whilst reading through the Camp Site Search I keep coming across sites for the Caravan and Camping Club, I'm wondering if it'd be worth joining? We're a couple with 2 young children and we'd always use a tent, never a caravan.
Whoops, sorry I've realised I posted this question last year, I'd better re-read the replies I got then. I haven't posted since last year and forgot to look in my profile first!
No problems! I only use tent and am in CCC.
Find their rules etc suit me and the sites are great!
Good value and you can book online!
Excellent publications which come with the membership fee
I have both tent(s) and trailer tent, and I`m a member. I join for one main reason and that`s to use their Carefree travel service. One stop shopping for overseas holidays, ten minute phone call and it`s all booked, with no hassle.
I do use their sites as well, of course, and very nice they are too.
We joined the ccc last year and had a great time in our little camper. However this year we decided the camper was too old, too small & too slow to get anywhere and have bought a tent.
We looked around at different style tents and with different options and finally found the Coleman Magellan. We decided if we were going to be taking other people with us we would need plenty of space, especially in the bedrooms, as i don't want to be getting changed in the living area in front of the mother in law. We then found that the 9 man was cheaper on ebay than we could find the 6 man anywhere else and it had more space, Bargain!!!!
When we started booking sites, we found that most of the sites wouldn't take us, as pitches are 16ft wide and they have to have a fire break of 6 foot. So now we can only fit on sites with bigger pitches or choose no hook-up on sites that have plenty of open pitch space.
I feel very annoyed and let down, although i do appreciate the sites situation and safety rules, we are now forced to return to the same sites twice a year or go to private sites.
We joined a few months ago and only use a tent, can't comment on many sites, but those we have visited are well maintained, as you would expect. Worth it for one year and then make your mind up.
Hi, we been in CCC many years ,would recommend to anyone. Very good sites very friendly people, and plenty of advice when you first camp.Never been to a bad club site yet,and some good sights in your area around Bucks

i am a member of the ccc and cannot fault it never been turned away because of size of tent no extra supplements for extra children etc etc campsites always clean and tidy plus the camping miles is/was an extra incentive as well
I was a member of the C&CC for many years with a tent.... I am now using a Dandy but have never had any probs with a tent and enjoyed the little certified sites that they have.
I have tents and for many years have been a member of the C&CC, which was primarily a camping club prior to allowing caravanners to join. Even though caravanners now appear to be given priority to campers on many sites, in terms of quality of pitches and closeness to the facilities, I still consider it to be worth being a member.
