My partner and her grand-daughter have never camped before, I have but many years ago and today I took them to Outriggers in Dunfermline to have a look at a Khyam and to explain to them how easy it was to put up and how much good it would do us being out in the fresh air instead of indoors all the time.
We are now the proud owners of a Jack Wolfskin High Flexibility RT plus everything we need to get started... and I mean everything... and I was that pleased that she really wanted to go camping after being uncertain for ages, that I willingly handed over my credit card without even looking at what she was adding to the pile.
The little'un's really happy trying out her bright pink mummy sleeping bag and we're looking forward to pitching camp for real ASAP.
Welcome to the forum Yer Tiz A word of warning, you may think you have everything, but if you let your partner read through this forum, your credit card will take even more of a beating
Nothing really wrong with the Kyham, but the Wolfskin was a really good price, had what I wanted, is much brighter inside and weighs about 20 kilos lighter, which has already been counter-acted by the "goodies" + the little'un liked the idea of a seperate pod for her.
Had a look at the Jack Wolfskin tents at Outriggers myself and liked a lot! (too pricey for me though) We live near Outriggers and it's a good shop, they have some really good gear.
We were well impressed. It was well worth the 130 mile round trip and the cafe was excellent as well.
We gave up smoking a month ago and the result was that when we opened the jars yesterday where we had been putting away what we would have spent on fags each day, we had saved enough to cover our spend.
Having worked out how much we were actually burning a month, there's no way we're going back to it.
Hopefully we will get our first camp in a fortnight. Can't wait.
Hello andwelcome to UKCS - the bst camping forum in the world! Well done on forsaking nicotine and seeing the benefits piling up - that is quite an achievement.
Wolfskin is a great make and I am sure you are making an excellent choice in returning to camping. I hope you have many fun filled trips!
Converting ciggies into camping? Has to be the best idea you`ve ever had. You`ve probably just given yourselves an extra ten years of life each....and you can spend it camping.
