Miltons Sterilising fluid diluted 1 part to 5 of water kills mould spoors to prevent it spreading but wont get rid of the black marks. You could then try cleaning and reproofing as caster suggested.

Incidently, the guy who sits next to me at work has been into re-enactment for years. Keeps a couple of hefty cannons in his garage , travels all over the place, he's firing them from a ship in Liverpool soon and hoping to meet up with Prince Charlie.

i got a 2nd hand tent that had mould on, not loads, but obvious clusters and smelling pretty rank

we washed it all with super diluted thin bleach, did the manky areas with mould & mildew remover spray (the sort u can use in bathrooms) it said it was fine on fabrics, shower curtains etc

it worked a treat, and smells rather sterile now haha, we aired it for 2 days to be sure  it was dry, it needs reproofing though b4 its used properly

its only the 3 person girl/flowery tent for my kiddies ,but came up good as new

Thanks for the advice, I got my mate to ask the same question on a re enactment forum and the only reply that came back was " should of dried your tent out " Got a big fence at work I can hang the tent on, treat the mold then let it dry out, will re water proof it when it is up at our next event.

We don't have any cannons in our group, some other larger groups do, we do War of the Roses so most of our wepons are swords and bills.
