Hi my sister has just bought a second hand tent ,when we were erecting it there was no instructions we got it up ok but i think we must have put it up the wrong way as the floor seemed to be off the floor and the tent itself just didnt look right,is there a way to do it ie do you put the pegs in first(its a sewn in groundsheet) thanks for any advice.
I'm prob not the best person to give advice having not actually made my 1st trip yet but...
We have a dome tent with sewn in ground sheet (Vango Diablo 900) that pitches inner 1st. The Vango website (www.vango.co.uk) has pitching videos. May be worth you having a look even if yours isn't a Vango - you may get some idea.
it might help if you could give a clue as to what make of tent it is, then owners of similar tents could give advice - you might find instructions if you went to the makers website if it isn't vango as above.
I am so glad that I have read this message, it's not just me. We have been struggling with our new tent and tomorrow is our final try before getting rid and buying something else. I have been looking at pitching videos but have found it difficult to find a similar tent until now! Just had a quick look at the Vango site as advise by Vanessa, Rob & Rabble. There is the same type of tent and I feel quite positive that we may be able to get the thing pitched tomorrow. Excellent advise. If we don't succeed tomorrow Khyam will be getting my money and there will be a very nice family tent for sale on ebay (won't say what type, don't want to scare any potential buyers off)! Love the tent talk and learning lots.

Any idea what tent it is? There is no one way to pitch a tent- it depends on the type, Claire
We've just bought our first tent for 15 yrs - its all different now. First thing we did was throw the poxy instruction book over the fence - talk about bo!!ox. Fortunately we saw a pro. in action a couple of weeks ago and followed his lead (cheers Steve)

As already mentioned ,all depends what type of tent you have.We have a full SIG tent which pitches inner first. Our tent has to be pegged on four corners before inserting poles, this stops the floor from being raised.A good tip would be to peg on diagonals ensuring a taut fit.
