We bought an Indiana 6 last year but only managed one weekend away in it, and pitched it once in the garden. As we're planning to go away in a few weeks' time, we thought we'd have another go today to refresh our memories! We had quite a few problems pitching and need some help!
Our main problem is that all 3 times we have pitched it it has ended up lopsided - as you're looking at the tent from the front door it is pulled to the right and the left hand side is too far off the ground. There is no adjustment on the right hand side and the left hand side is tensioned as much as it can be without ripping.
The way we have pitched it is as follows:
- Lay out tent fully
- Put in curved poles in sleeves
- Add legs
- Peg back corners and guy out back
- Raise tent and walk it forward
- Guy out front (just to hold - to be adjusted later)
- Attach ring and pin - right side first (with the tension straps undone)
- Pull tent out fully so it's not sagging
- Peg out front corners
- Attach tension straps and adjust ring and pin straps on left side
- Finish pegging out
Does anyone have any bright ideas how we can make it easier in future? We are concerned that there is a fault with the tent as we can't see any way of pitching so that it's not lopsided but if anyone can help we would be most grateful! Thanks in advance!
We have the motana which is very similar and we found this is the best way of pitching:
Lay out tent, ensure all tension adjusters are as long as they will go.
Peg all four corners
Open all doors and walk inside and lift to get air in (you wont need to do this as the indiana has no SIG.)
put in all roof poles.
Put in front leg poles only, lift, put in pins and peg front guys (the trick with getting it even is to make sure the fly is even on the roof poles before you put the pins in.)
continue in the same way with each set of roof and leg sections one at a time.
Peg out rear guys.
Adjust all legs, walking in/out, back/forward as necessary. Peg all legs, and adjust tension straps as necessary.
peg all points on the fly and all guys.
Put in porch pole and peg porch.
Done!
I hope this is of help, the main thing to remember is to lossen all tension straps before you start (we do this each time we srtike the tent so its all set to go next time).
And to take the time to ensure the sleves on the roof are even across the roof pole BEFORE putting in the pin (this is easier if you lift before pinning, contrey to what Outwell tell you to do).
