The problem we have found, in pitching the Campus Oregon, is the weight. When stretching out the fly sheet to start pushing in the poles, it becomes apparent that the tent is not only huge but also very heavy. The poles are very heavy also and when we have watched pitching videos on line it is obvious that the Campus' poles are ' Thicker than the norm '. When we have collected all the sections up and are ready to extend the shape out, my wife finds the weight very, very difficult to deal with.
I am sure that we would get use to pitching the thing but we came to the conclusion that as a first tent we have bought too big. After over 650 views, we have not had 1 person say " Hey, I have the same tent and the 2 of us can pitch it in an hour and a half " In fact, I can not find any reference of anyone who has this tent!!!
I have been to our local camping shop today and bought the Vango Colorado 600 DLX for £199.00 We pitched it for our first time, this afternoon, in 1 and a half hours. ( 20 mins approx reading instructiuons included ). The Colorado 600 is perfect. It has the 9 and 6 year old well apart at bedtime each side as required, plenty of living room and it was , as Val says, " A doddle to put up ".
We have decided to keep the monster heavy Campus for long breaks in the future. When the kids are older it will be a great tent as it is huge and the kids can help put it up.
Thanks for all the input.
