Hi all,

Just been away for the first time in my indy 8

We found for a large tent it went up really quite well and took just over 30mins.

However I did really struggle putting the pins in the bottom of the poles to the point of nearly passing out with the strain!!

does anyone know of any tips to make this part easier??

I would be most grateful.........thanks roy.

Hmm, we're off with ours for the first time friday!  So will keep an eye out for tips and / or let you know how we get on when we return Sunday.  Glad to hear it went up OK though.

Actually our old tahoma was hard to do that part as well, wonder if its just a fundamental tent design thing?

Shall find out I guess...

did you make sure that the tension straps were fully released? But the pin in the none tension strap side first. We also we found it easier to get them in with the pole upright rather than lay flat on the ground (hope that makes sense)

Glad you liked the tent, we think they are great

I put a tent peg extractor in the loop and push the pin through the eye when all poles are laying flat. When all the poles are done lift them up ,peg the front 2 guys and walk all the poles out like a consertina then peg the back. Adjust pegs as you go along

we got our indy 8 last year and did find the first few times hard were very hard to get the pins in but it did get easer the more we used it. we did have to make sure all the straps where all un done before we put the pins in but I used to undone as we took the tent down and it was no problem.

Hi Roy,

We've got an Indy 6 which uses the same system. Had no end of bother getting the ring and pin stuff to work but got a tip from the camp shop recently which seems to make the world of difference. With the LHS tensioners all released fully, the strap attached and the RHS pin in, get someone to pull the sleeve towards the LHS at the top of the pole while the other person pushes the bottom of the leg pole in and inserts the pin. I imagine it well get easier each time you do it as the flysheet stretches out a bit. Hope that helps.
