the best idea is to go and have a look at some, also you will probably need a sixth berth for 4 of you. We have an outwell and they are good tents. People like different tents for different reasons. Some like domes some tunnels ec it all depends on what suits you.
We have been camping about 7 years and started with a dome with bedrooms off, we did not like it bacuse the dome shape made the sides hard to use and it lacked windows, therefore light when sat in in the rain. We next had a Khyam XXL which was great tent and very eays to put up single handed, but again 9for us)not light enough. The Outwell indiana for us is great because being a tunnel it has a compact footprint for the size, loads of windows, big living space and canopy to cook under.
Dont expect to get it right first time, you could get a bargin tent second hand if you are careful, then, once you have been a couple of times, you get a better idea of what is important to you.
Camping is fantastic
