But actually heating the whole tent is unnecessary and unrealistic in these circumstances.
I'd go for decent sleeping kit so self inflating mats (or even old style foam roll mats, good sleeping bags and additional layers of fleece blankets. I sleep in a fleece inner, 3 season bag and additional blankets - even in midsummer!
Then add layers of good clothing, base layers, mid layers and decent outer layers and put the layers on before you start to get cold.

Normally used under an awning with a gathering of us having a drink, It's kept outside till the coals are glowing and really warm and the initial smoke has died, then took into the tent.
I recently mentioned that I'd done this and someone warned me of the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning. A lad died recently from exactly that, though in a van rather than a tent.
Daft question from a non bell tent owner....and slightly off topic.........But....
Can you get inner tents for a bell tent? or....as in any pic Ive seen you sleep in the main tent...as well as live there??...Im thinking teenage daughter here...and the need for privacy when changing for bed etc....
On the heating front....As most of you seem to have open fires outside...I heard of a wee trick with clay plant pots....You heat the plant pot on or near the fire...At night you carry heated plant pot(with tongs or similar) into the tent...place on a suitable stand...the clay retains the heat through the night and keeps you warn without fear of smoke/ash/gas or carbon (depending on the stove you use) fumes being emitted..Suppose the pot would work if placed near a gas fire to heat....Though I personally have never tried this.....

Great pics Val - the night-time one looks really amazing. I'm looking forward to winter camping (with a stove!) this year and that's just changed my mind about using an inner.
