to use a TV and DVD in a tent?

i mean mains powered ones?

who uses them and what about damp and condensation and mains electricity?

We've used them, as long as you have proper ehu from camping shop, not cheap ebay jobbies, keep the socket up off the floor and had no problems.

it's just that we are considering weekend trips in out tent again to save the hassle of getting the van out of storage and returning it there and still want some comforts as we are used to in the van

You could try a portable DVD player with the screen built in?

We use a small 7" lcd tv that we bought at Aldi and a portable DVD player (for when the tv reception is hopeless)

As beefysmum says, keep the socket up off the floor and away from any possible sources of dripping water and you should be fine. We use a folding trolley with two trays in our tent and this works fine.( socket and cord on lower tray, tv or dvd on top tray
