Just got back today from, 5 nights in the New Forest.  It wasn't really very rainy during the day, just showers really and mostly overnight.  It was pretty windy but not bad enough to pack up early. Even the gazebo stayed put.  The only downside was the fact that we were camping in our horses'  field and we were on the part they've just grazed so it was really dusty because we haven't had enough rain recently for the grass to grow back.  Mind you it does mean that we could leave the tent up until it drys off.  Not sure how I'd manage it as home as I have a very small garden.

We have just sold our caravan and gone back to camping. We went away Friday and it went well for two nights, but we woke on Sunday to very high winds. Everyone else seemed to be packing up, and we decided to tough it out. Then around 10 o' clock a tear appeared in the back of our tent and the poles bent. So we threw the tent in the dustbin at the campsite and headed home.

It hasn't put us off though. We went out on Monday to a tent show and bought a new Montana 6.

Did anyone get any money refunded for going home early? Did you ask?

We didn't like to ask, but we handed in our key and said we were going home early, and they didn't offer.

James

We booked for 3 and stayed for 3. St Davids Park on Angelsey was fantastic. Glorious Saturday, the winds got up though and Saturday night was very very windy but we fastened everything down and switched on our fantastic little gas heaters (the best ever investment we made for those cold nights in a tent!) Sunday the rain was on and off until about 2 on Monday morning when it bucketed it down luckily though at that time the winds had dropped. Quite alot of people left on the Sunday but then quite alot of people also arrived for the one night. The Monday was glorious again and we got to pack everything dry. It's worth sticking it out things always get better. Every time we have gone camping no matter how wet and windy it is during the day we go home the sun has always come out and dried all the tent out.

My advice is stick it out it's always worth it. Oh and invest in some heaters and a carpet it keeps it nice and toasty warm!!

Well we went away on Friday 4th to our caravan and were meant to be away until tomorrow, the 13th, but we came back today because it has rained virtually non stop since Tuesday evening!  Have had to bring the awning back sopping wet but fortunately not canvas so that is hung under the car port drying out.  Great shame after all the lovely weather but hey this is England and we know the deal.

perhaps not rolleyes smileys

being a bit old and creaky and not having to worry about time off work does have it's advantages.
