We trial pitched our Monty 7 yesterday and the roof bars were stuck together, I'm too a builder and brute force does not work. I pulled at them till I went red in the face with no joy! and then DAD came over very slowly and told me hold one part of the pole, while he very gently wingled the over up and down and it came straight out. So did the rest of them, I had vice and hammers in mind, good job here was there or I would of probably wrecked them! Wingle them up and down while gently pulling apart and you should be ok!
i have aquired a montana 5 tent (make high peak simex sport) but have no tent poles :( can anyone help me in the right direction where i can get the poles from as the tent is in good condition. I have looked on internet but no having much luck :(
I too have a Monty 6 - bought it a month or so back from World of Camping, but I've got a feeling my poles are not square, more so D shaped. Which poles are we talking about?
Ok, just pulled it all out to have a good look (bare in mind this should be a 2007 model):-
SIDE POLES (legs):
From the ground up each section on the side pole (legs) inter-connects with a circular connection, finishing up with a square shape (that connects to the roof poles).
ROOF POLES:
At either end is the square shape that connects to the side poles (legs), but at the points where each section of the roof pole interconnects with the next section it is D shape.
An update from our camping store, straight from the Outwell horses mouth, follows. I will check ours again tomorrow to see that they meet this description and at the weekend we'll see if they fit !
Outwell have clarified the situation regarding the Montana poles. Last year there was some problem with the curved roof sections of the tent in that it was not clear which way round the sections fitted together correctly.
To solve the problem this year they have made the poles sections with one end square and one end D shaped. All the leg sections are square shaped.
The poles you have are definately 2007 poles - as both ours and and Outwell's stocks of 2006 tents were sold out well before the end of the year.
Could anyone tell me if a 2009 Monty 6 has the same shape poles as I described 4 posts back (as a 2007 Monty 6)? One of my poles is bent and rather than replace the whole lot I've been offered a replacement from a new 2009 Monty.
We always carry WD40 with us and once the poles are away from the flysheet we give them a quick burst of the stuff and that always frees them, HOWEVER, we always thoroughly wipe any residue away just to be on the safe side.
------------- If you have a problem stressing you, sort it. If you can't, there's no point worrying about it coz it won't make a blind bit of difference!!!! Jules
