Hi

We've just bought the Outwell Norfolk Lake (huge tent but really lovely).  I've been really impressed with Outwell so far however that was until we put down the wall to wall carpet which costs us £65. As it's a large carpet it seems there are two halves sewn together, well our two halves are two different shades of green and noticeably so!  Also the small hole in the carpet, which is needed for the floor hook for the optional 3rd sleeping compartment, looks like my 3 year old has just taken a pair of scissors to it and had a great time.  It's untidy and far too large.  Has anyone else had this problem with any of Outwell's carpets?  I shall obviously return it but I didn't get it direct from Outwell and I'm even thinking of phoning them as I'm so disappointed with it.

We bought an Outwell Minnesota 4 carpet for the living area in our Cabanon Vis a Vis. It too seems to be made of two entirely different shades of fabric (joined in the middle), though actually I reckon it has been joined with the fabric weave in a different direction, if that makes sense.  The lines don't line up with each other at all, so it is a bit scruffy-looking. I decided I could use it in my large bedroom inner, so bought another and, guess what, it is exactly the same!

Thanks for that, has been a great help.  New to all this so appreciate your pointing me in the right direction.

np - but I do have a little confession  - I have not been brave enough to cut my own hole for the third bedroom hoop to go through.

I can't see us using the third bedroom just yet and the 'bump' is hardly noticeable - so I'm going to leave it for the moment.

You should find that the seam down the middle of the carpet runs right over the hoop and when the time comes, I think I would unpick the thread at that point - just enough for the hoop to poke through.

Not quite sure yet how I would stop the stiching from working its way undone back along the seam - any ideas please?

Hi,

Just a quick one to say I too had a duff Norfolk Lake carpet, but thanks to Gary at Cross Camping will be receiving a replacement SV6 carpet as soon as they come into stock.  I'll also do the + cut in preference to Outwell's effort with a pair of shears - I guess if the cut is on the seam it may be worth sticking a bit of duct tape along the seam each side of the cut so it doesn't pull apart over time.

Mrs Brainhertz has had a look and says she would pick the stitches away where the hoop is then stitch each end of the hole to stop it from running.

Who am I to argue?
