the HH rating tells you basically how waterproof the tent is ..  a HH rating of 1500 minimum is recommended for UK camping ( but not extreme stuff ).. most people opt for 2000 or higher.

out of interest which tents 'speak'  to you  - it might help.

You can ring them and ask .. I think they should be at least 1500 but someone else might know exactly.  Good idea to walk into Millets and actually see it ..  it will give you some idea of size..  diagrams are all very well .. but nothing like standing in a tent to get a feel for it .  You can imagine your stuff in it and see if it suits.  best of luck..   oh take the missus if you can.

now now..

anyway, with the BH coming up if your mind is made up you could get a practice run.. even if you rely on the chipshop for food.

The Eurohikes seem to have an HH of 2000 (I've got the millets catalogue here)

Not necessarily a fan of the tents I showed you, was just trying to come up with ideas that had 2 bedrooms withi budget. I actually have a Vango tent very similar to the Sandringham

If thats the one you like, then I would go for it, it's such a personal taste

best in equipment forum - where you will find out tha,t after the tent, the sleeping bags are the most important purchase.. do not skimp on them..  cheap and cheerful does  not work here.  take your duvet and some fleece blankets until you are see the right ones !    need to sleep on something though ..   now is it a mat or an airbed ?

Trick is to put somehting under the airbed   and on top of the airbed to stop condensation..  foam mat ..  cheap picnic rug from pound shop under, fleece blanket over..    then you duvet ..  and always have extra .. jimjams , socks if need be..  it gets cold at night ..  and the youngster ..  make sure you have extra for the wee lad. oh and nappy bucket and lid..  for nightime weewees lol

ps look familiar
