If the forecast is to be believed then we are going to have a fairly wet long weekend with our kids - we will turf them out in the wet to explore all the puddles but anyone got any good children entertainment for in the rain?
Thanks

We spent a good couple of hours during the Whitsun Monsoon playing the following for which you will need small whiteboards (Early Learning etc);
Down the side of the board write the following; boys name, girls name, animal, food, tv programme or film, town or city, song title (you can add others if you want, we're not too strict on this!).
Now one person goes through the alphabet silently in their head and another says stop. The first person then says the letter they got to. Everyone then has to get all the subjects starting with that letter. When the results are compared you get 10 points for a unique answer and 5 points if someone else got the same answer so the more unusual the answer the better.
OK, so it's not rocket science but it kept our 5 and 8 year olds busy for a while.

Top trumps, fish or other card game, travel battleships, Monopoly Guess who etc. Gone out of fashion again I know but making scoobies are great for passing some time when it's wet.

Jumping in puddles is great. Also we have a compendium of games, bought in Tesco for £9, contains 50 games including a pack of cards, and all the old favourites (and some I've never heard of!) I like the fact that it's in a tin, keeps it all together and won't fall apart like cardboard.

Hi Suttons
We find that Top Trumps are great with our 4 kids (aged 7-12) there are so many different ones now relating to programmes, films, authors and as I remember from when I was a kid the cars and football ones so there really is a set to suit everyone. They're also really useful on long car journeys as well.
Uno is another card game that we all love and because it uses colours, symbols and numbers can be played by young children as well.
We have a box for wet days/evenings with cards, colouring things and some travel board games and even when we've had to rely on them for long periods of time we've not had anyone complain they're bored. I think the key is making sure you've got plenty of choice.
Helen D's suggestion is good as well it's a game that a wide variety of ages can play.

Last week woolies had all the travel games such as Monopoly, guess who, kerplonk, cluedo etc half price. Think they were £3.50 each? I was awfully tempted to get some myself and really regret it now. Going down the shops tomorrow so I'm hoping they are still on offer and have some left. Otherwise, cards, top trumps, and the travel/car DVD player for us. Also whenever I go away I always buy a few cheap (and sometimes nasty) liitle bits and bobs often from Tesco, the pound shop etc and don't give them to the little one until we get to wherever we are going or until we need them e.g, when hes bored or moaning. That way he has something new to play with and its a bit of a novelty (for 5 minutes!!!!).
