Have you had some very negative experiences with caravanners then, PaulDG?
No. But I've had less than perfect experiences with site wardens who seem determined to regulate what campers under canvas get up to while allowing caravanners to pretty much do as they want.
This seems to come from the sort of warden who's never actually camped but has toured in a van. To them it's entirely natural that a caravan needs hookup, water, mains drainage and a double extended awning.
Then they insist that tents must be in the boggy bit of the field with no EHU, no 'canvas touching canvas' ('it's a fire risk you know!'), furthest to walk to the showers & toilets.
(We've decided we can't fight this so we're surrendering. We're in the process of buying a FC which with its awning has a 'canvas touching canvas' structure but is apparently entirely safe...)
