Just come back from a staying in Pembrokeshire as we all know the weather was not the greatest.  We used our new Hartford xl for the 1st time and it was great the only problem we had were the plastic hooks on the flysheet that attach to the ring and pin system on the main tent kept coming un hooked.  Just wondering if I am doing anything wrong??

Any advice would be welcome.

Have you tightened the Tension straps after putting the hooks on ? Put them on then tighten and they should not come off.

Do the hooks not have a little clip that goes over the hook to keep them in place?  We took ours back to the shop as they had snapped off and the fly sheet kept coming unclipped?

I cant remeber there being any clips that go over the hooks i just remember them being normal plastic hooks and it did not look like anything had snapped off they were all the same.  Will double check tonight when i get home from work.

From what you are explaining, I could be wrong. At the bottom of the fly sheet, You have hooks that are attached to black nylon. The hook goes around the pins on the tent inner. Loosen off the black straps hook the hooks onto the pin system then pull the black bits taught.

Hope this helps.

Just found this thread and it answers a few of my problems with my XL.  I dont seem to have any clips on the nylon webbing on the outer tent and have been pegging the webbing straight to the ground.Do all the XL's have these clips, how many are there on the XL and does anyone out there know where to get these replacement clips from.If I can't get any replacement clips I think I'll have to fasten the outersheet to the rings with cable ties and then adjust the straps.

Thanks

JohnnyP

We also peg the webbing straight to the ground. Don't see how we could attach the fly to the poles.

From what I have seen on an XL at a camping shop this weekend the loop at the end of the webbing has a plastic clip that clips on to the ring what the end of the poles go into.

Last week when it was windy the webbing kept pulling the tent pegs out of the corners of each pod
