Check them out at Yeomans Outdoors under washstands They say cooker stant but they are only good for a washstand They take up no room as they fold up flat and if you dont mind standing to barbecue you do not not need to cut the legs down.

Hi Tubby

Please let us know the responce you get from IWOOT. I am interested to know thier thoughts as I was going to order one of these BBQs but really don't want to damage the grass or ground.

I'm going to have to measure my camp kitchen and see if Vals idea (thank you) is a viable option for us with this BBQ.

We also use one section of our camp kitchen for BBQing. We don't use the disposables any more but last year picked up a couple of very cheap portable BBQs from ASDA (£1.25 each!) They are a tray quite a bit larger than the disposables, with a a grill on top on legs that hold up the tray of coals. You just add your own coals. I have always known that the legs would not be high enough to stop a heat problem so we sit it on its legs on the wire shelving of our kitchen unit. Gives plenty of room around it to put utensils too - and as Val says, the windshield is great too.

I wouldn't worry, campsites tend to charge ridicolous rates and a bit of burnt grass should not worry you.  In fact  In fact it really pi**es me of that campsites care so much about their grass but are happy to let the toilets and showers be a mess..

We used a disposable barbeque from Tesco last weekend and it had fold down legs that raised it up by only 6" or so - It was fine placed on our foldable table and barely warmed the surface...

I contacted our suppliers for some advise and below is the response.
 
 
Although they are suitable for gardens, stone paved areas and wood deck there are so many different types of wood, stone and other surfaces we can not be held responsible for the effects on the surfaces beneath, there are also many different types of fuel used which all create different temperatures. We have burnt this unit on a deck and a table without any effect so have not found it necessary to warn customers.
We have sold many thousand of this models and never had an issue.

Bit of a cop out I thought as their instructions show it in use on a wooden patio table. The BBQ is good, it folds flat and is s good family size. Just, if you get one, keep it off the floor.

We found a frame from B&Q only about £3 which is designed to sit a single size disposable BBQ in. Perfect for the job as it flat packs and raises the BBQ about 2 ft off the ground so not so much bending either!
