hi blimey
take a look here for online version of pass the pigs it got the rules here and the point definition
hope it helps
Never even heared of pas the pigs but that online version seems quite good fun. Could not get the rules page up but you can get the basic idea from the game.
Could probaly be played just as well with dice. add the numbers to get your score, throw a double to lose that go!

we take monopoly cards, pass the pigs, yahtzee poker, and poker chips. we also play the a-z game, where you pick a topic - ie animals, and everyone has to go through the alphabet thinking of an animal starting with that letter.
the kids go off and build dens etc - but we get together and have "sports day" where we team up and do things like 3 legged racing, hopping races, see who can spin round on the spot for the longest.
------------- why haven't they invented silent opening zips??!!

It's what camping is all about, those games that you fit into the smallest space in the car and give the biggest amout of fun. Allways Top Trumps of all kinds from animals and to space, good for in the car too. Travel games, snakes and ladders etc. Also the old favorite of eye spy

Our kids enjoy 21's.....either in the car or a spare 5 mins in the tent or on a hike.
Each person in the group can say up to 3 numbers starting at 1, so first person says for eg 1,2 ..then next person says 3,4,5, next person says 6 and so on... you have to avoid being the person who says "21". The person who says 21 can either then be out of the next game or everyone just goes neh neh neh nehneh at them !!!
Simple I know but our kids love it and even a 5 yr old can get quite tactical !

Pennine, I play that game with my French classes, although we only go up to Douze, and they all love it. Another silly number game is where there is no order, anyone can say the next number in the sequence but if 2 people talk at the same time you have to go back to zero. It is amazingly difficult to get beyond about 7, and it always makes them laugh.

We have a home-made game called “I’m thinking of a…”
Theme depends on whatever Charlies current obsession is, so originally Thomas the Tank-Engine but more recently Transformers.
It’s a 20 questions style game, take turns to ask anything that has a yes/no answer, until someone can identify the engine/Transformer/thing. “Is it a steamie…?” is now a household expression if we are trying to remember something.
Nothing required except imagination, adapts to any topic, so can be played anywhere that you need to keep a 5 year old quiet/distracted/entertained for a while.
Works for us !

A game we have spent hours playing, when camping and at home is Sketch Consequences. Here is a link for rules and game sheets. Can be hilarious.

okay, this is a game devised my a slightly inebriated hubby and me, not really a family game, but will work with a group of friends after a few babychams....all it takes is 1 screwed up napkin, a bit of nerve and skill....
Take aforementioned screwed up napkin, (really tight, so its like a ball). All players then either sit in a tent in a rough circle or outside about 5ft apart. The idea of the game is to throw the screwed up napkin at a next person's to your right forehead to score a point. first one to 10 is the winner! points are deducted from your total if you move when the "napkin" is thrown at you and ALL players are encouraged to be honest and say when the napkin has hit your forehead or not. (we've had a few arguments when napkin has hit the bridge of noses etc. DECISION - no points, gotta be a hit on the forehead!)
okay, probably this sounds a crap game if you are sober, but honest to god, try it after a couple of beers, its the dogs!

The kite but no wind ("run faster, kids!") is still making me chuckle. Anyway, Tesco have a "value" kite for sale, with all the other outdoor toys, for the grand total of 87p. It's ideal for younger kids and my 3 yr old and 6 yr old were having great fun with it the other day, even though it hardly got more than about 3 foot off the ground!!!
