Hi  Folks,

just bought a windbreak to go with  Diablo, however  when I go to put it up  there 5 poles but only 7guys and 7 pegs. I've used 2 guys on  first and last poles and one on each of the middle ones (pegged on the windward side) and this seems to be OK at the moment but as there's hardly a breeze in the garden I'm not entirely convinced.

Have I put this up correctly ? 

Should there be more pegs and guys ?

Any advice welcome.

feel reassured now, was concerned cos needed to buy extra pegs for Diablo, not enough supplied to secure mudflaps down properly (imo) .

We've got a vango windbreak as well with a lack of ropes so we improvised with some washing line type rope as it was VERY windy in Wales the other week!!!

We always have extra pegs just in case.....

Think  I'll take a few spares. Just in case.

That's the same as on our Outwell windbreaks, but we add more guys to the middle poles just to be safe.

I nearly bought a Vango windbreak at Millets, recently (need a blue one, have to colour co-ordinate!) when they had £10 off (down to £19.99) but, when I went into store, they were out of stock. Now they have them back in the price has gone up, naturally.

What's the best price anyone has found?

firstly you should have 2 guylines on each of the end poles, push one of the end poles through the sleeve and make sure the spike at the top goes through the eyelet on the webbing strap then pull the guylines out diagonally (don't have them one in front and one at the back of the windbreak but out to the side and about 90 degrees from each other) tension the guylines making sure the pole is still vertical then stand up the next pole, pull it away from the first pole to get the fabric nice and tight again make sure that the top spike is through the reinforced eyelet and peg out the guyline, make sure you guy the centre poles straight out from the windbreak and into the wind, again making sure that the pole is straight - continue for all the poles, keeping the tension as you go and finish off at the other end pole with 2 guy's again - go along and tension up again if necessary - hopefully this will help, but remember if you are on a slope or uneven ground this may affect the way the windbreak sits.  These windbreaks are very stable if pegged and guyed out well, just takes a bit of practice.
