What a great addiction to have

We are sooooo addicted to the shopping element, at our local store the staff greet us like old friends  Even the fellow customers always have a smile and a kind word so I'm glad to say we're not the only one's addicted

Enjoy one and all !!

Dave...it may have something to do with your name...

My best mate is a 'Dave'   we call him 'Dynamo'...after his fondness for wind up torches and lanterns....

Hi.....my names Dave and I'm a torch-aholic, I first started buying torches when I bought my first tent, hey I could cope and knew I could give up anytime I wanted to. Ok the first couple of two battery jobs were fine but soon I needed more. I graduated onto my first hard 1.5 million candle power rechargeable last year and now it's getting out of hand.

Fouteen hand held, three head torches (led's and krypton), one 1.5 m candle power and finally I knew I was hooked when I bought a Gelert rechargable flourescent lantern with remote control. I need help and soon. I'm the guy in the tent at the far end of the site that looks like a Status Quo plays Blackpool concert.

This is very illuminating, davewynn, and your post has really brightened up my day! I'm sure you don't really need help, since identifying the problem is the first step towards recovery (torch - wood!).

I am also a shopoholic when it comes to camping! Only our 2nd year so still new to the camping life but must say am really enjoying it.  Would not like to think how much money we have spent on equipment. Onto our 2nd tent and have all the mod cons, if i knew you could get all these luxury items for a tent would have done it years ago!!!

We have a 10 month old baby and to give us the chance to get away a few times a year thought that it would be a good idea and cheap to get a tent!  How wrong culd we be.  We went away Whitsun and came back and have now bought a new tent.  Everytime we go anywhere we seem to come back with more for camping.  Next time looks like it may be a new car we need.

Thanks Liddenham. I am going cold battery (battery - turkey geddit?) this week. No browsing camping equipment sites for three complete days now and the shakes have almost gone. Not put anything on charge and am now using Niquitorch patches (available with prescription from your GP and all good camping shops). OK I bought one very small pack of rechargeable AAA cells for the remote lantern but as they also fit my camera they don't count.

Wassappening to me.? I only found this site two days ago and I'm already a butane cylinder short of a breakfast.

The question is; can you go into such a shop just to browse, or do you always exit with yet another purchase?

I really dont need anything else, but still seem to buy things, my OH thinks i am mad!! I now justify me browsing by saying i am looking for bargins for friends who have just started camping.

This year have bought mini oven, halogen heater ( fan heater was a bit noisy), little salt and pepper pot, new bin bag holder, 2 tents ( one for weekends and 1 such a bargin i could not resist), better sleeping bags for kids, new camp beds (3rd lot in 6 years), delta pegs, low table (other one a bit tatty) and more!!!!!

This after needing nothing really. I think i have an addiction!!

On the way back from buying a ground sheet for the montana I bought last week , called into Aldi for a bag of frozen peas and yes     came out with a roof box.   That's definitely it for this year.  Oh I need some roof bars for the roof box     then that's definitely it.
