Would you buy a second hand tent without seeing it up? We have to sell our first tent and we don't have the room to pitch it. Nor do our close friends/neighbours. It would mean pulling in a real favour or risking pitching it somewhere public.

Also, we burnt 2 little holes in the groundsheet with the stove (yes, I know, I know!) the first time we used it. I intend to repair these, but would it put you off buying?

Thanks!

I wouldn't buy one without seeing it up after what happened to liddenham. You will have to call in that favour lol. Also as long as you mention to any buyer that there are a couple of repairs in the ground sheet there should not be a problem. Try to be as honest as you can  in the description, then you wont get any come backs. Good luck

If the prospective buyer seems truely interested pop down to the local park and open it out....youshouldnt have to put it right up with all pegs in etc for them to be able to see what the condition is.

As for the burns....well,if it was me, it would bother me that much, but you could always knock a couple of quid off the asking price.

(Make sure you up the asking price a little first.... LOL  )

I have to believe that those circumstances I encountered were rare, and that the majority of tent sellers are okay. After all, I wouldn't dress a duff tent up as new, and I'll bet most folk on here wouldn't either.

Oooh, I have missed something! What happened?

It isn't a SIG, no. Are you allowed to just pitch on a local park temporaily?

recently was going to purchase a second hand dewarad but the shipping cost were to expensive i have recently sold outwell indiana 8 and the chap seemed very happy you could alway come up with a agreement with the seller that if you found any problems you could have your money back most people who are selling will show it you up if you are going to pick it up.

Hi,

I've just sold our first tent, the people who have bought it, wasn't  bothered about seeing the tent up, we would have gone over to Cannock Chase and put the tent up so they could see it.

I recently sold my first tent.  The buyer picked it up on route to a campsite and took it away without opening the bag.

well what a week i've had, sold one tent on Monday evening, ebay tent arrived Tues (terrible condition, now going back for a full refund) and think I have just sold another tent this evening through this site. Now I am left with one tent!! and need to find a weekend tent by 29th June as the cabanon is too big and bulky for weekends in uk. Trouble is I am impulsive ( hence two tents sold) and want to make sure I get it right this time) I now will not buy a  2nd hand tent without seeing it up

i have bought a tent without seeing it up, i was lucky and it was in excellent condition. Have also sold various on ebay with no problems, including one with a hole in the bedroom groundsheet which i had mended . I find if you can take pictures of damage and are totally honest people are happy with that. it is definately easier to sell and gets a better price if you can get it up and include pictures tho,

We sold our "introduction to camping" tent on Ebay last week, it was a really big 4 berth dome tent but wasnt big enough for us now we are into camping proper!

We bought it from a local supermarket for £25 2 summers ago and someone just bought it for £39 + £15 p+p!!!

I did feel a bit guilty but I listed it at strating bids of 1p and was hoping to get maybe £10 for it - if I was lucky, I didnt lie or stretch the truth, was just really honest. I did put on quite a few picks because I think that really helps it to sell, dont think it would have gone for £5 without the pictures.

Buyer left feedback today saying they were delighted with the purchase so I dont feel too bad now, especially when I remember that my weekend away tomorrow has been paid for by it!

Get down the park and pitch it, take a few pic's and you will be thankful you did!
