Just enjoy it. Making a list like everyone says is a very good idea, we do that because we always end up forgetting or needing something.  Plenty of wine to relax.  You should be fine. Let us all know how you got on.

A good tip is to take sachets of sauces, salt pepper sugar, milk etc that u get from restaraunts etcthe milk is long life so is handy if u don't have eleccie and the sauce, sugar etc will take up a lot less room, therefore leaving room for other things, another tip is to lay sleeping bags on the back seat for the passengers to sit on saves a lot of space and then hang sleeping bag bags on back of seats which makes handy storage for kids toys etc.

One thing we do is aswell as taking our own sleeping bags we take a spare that we have.  We unzip it and use it as a duvet over us.    I know that you may not have a spare but it is a good way to keep warm when the temp starts to drop

Making a list of all the stuff to take is essential - as is noting anything you have forgotten when you are there so you can amend your "master list". But is it equally important to note what you DON'T use; quite a few folks go mad with camping gadgets and then find that they are not used, or only occasionally so. However, as we all have our different style of camping and ideas about what is "essential" no one else can really advise you; in the end you have to decide what is right for you.

On the subject of the weather, I like the saying that there is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes. Whatever the forecast we take lightweight waterproofs and wellies, warm layers, thinner layers, sandals and sun hats / suncream; that way we are prepared for all eventualities. If you choose sensibly (e.g. when buying) it hopefully will pack down small, and I always take travel wash so if the weather favours some garments over others on a longer hol, I can wash them so they are clean again.

The pen and paper is a great idea. Never fails. Especially if you have a break over the winter and then get back into it again. Also stops you taking tooooo much which i can guarantee we all do

But a nice bottle of red or 2 soon makes you forget what all the worry was.

Glad you enjoyed your first time. i know i did

Just got back from our 1st trip ... Bought a students starter kit from argos for 19.99, which included small choppin board, two sharp knives, knives n forks, saucepan, frypan, small oven tray, great for bacon n sausages, corkscrew, can opener, cooking utensils, peeler, scissors etc ... which was brill!!!!  only forgot washin up liquid and a camera, which wasnt a problem used our mobiles instead to catch the setting up photos! We also froze 2 ltr bottles of water n sausages n bacon before hand to put in the cool box, the water was still cold two days later.  We used a lidded bucket for a rubbish bin, so no constant trips to the bins or rubbish blown around.  We loved our first experience and now looking for more places to visit .... happy camping to one and all !!!
