I put it down to jealousy because I have a holiday home anywhere I want, one of my work colleagues even questions when I clean my house because I camp most weekends (my house is clean) this also stems from the fact I flatly refuse to work Friday pm (my day off) because I want to camp, how can people knock what they have never tried, I miss my camping when the weather is bad!
My work colleagues all think i am mad going camping.
Most of them go abroad every year and record all the soaps to watch when they return home!
For me and OH camping is about the great outdoors and getting away from the TV and news for a little while.
We don't have EHU as we don't need it, but we see all other campers as potential new friends whatever equipment/luxuries they make use of on their holiday.
Our only essential for a site is a clean toilet/shower block with pot washing facilities.
We don't try and persuade friends to try camping as it means there is more chance of us getting a pitch where and when we want.
Most people react the same way.. "camping, why???" but I have found that as I am so enthusiastic & start telling them all the positives that come with camping: the relaxation, the good book, the glass of wine etc.many of them have began to be a little more interested.. & guess what... they have eventually gone out & bought tents themselves.
Now many of my old collegues are hardened campers ... Now to move on to the virgin campers at my new job!!!hahaha
Spent 8 years camping and then brought a touring caravan. Had fun for a year with it and then took it away whitsun. Don't like it anymore, LOVE camping too much to walk down the field to the tin can. EVERY night putting beds up and then down in the morning, not sleeping in private area, when teenage kids in same space. Not being able to sleep under canvas. Having to empty the toilet and not a bucket. Selling the caravan, and buying a Vermont XL, can't wait to go.

Im getting paranoid now. Im really looking forward to my first camping trip (when we get round to booking somewhere!) and 3 people have issued the same words " I cant imagine YOU going camping, where will you plug in your straighteners?!"
My great-niece is a beautician and she goes camping (caravanning) with her parents. She looks stunning in full makeup with not a hair (straighteners? blow dryer?) out of place and it doesn't seem to take too much time either. Don't know how she does it, I can't manage that on a work-day!
