We bought our Montana 6 on Friday and pitched it yesterday. It went pretty well! No arguments between H and I .  We didn't peg the entire thing out (we will when we camp proper) but it took us around an hour. I thought that was pretty good considering I have never pitched a tent in my life. Our 4 year old *helped* and the baby slept in her stroller almost the entire time. Now if she could do that when we arrive next Sunday, that would be great

I can't wait to go camping next week now. I'm really excited!

Edited to add: I even managed to get it back in the bag. Took 3 attempts, but I did it. This will now be my appointed role on site

Wouldnt you think they would give you a bag ever so slightly bigger than the tent! I mean, its never goung to fold up EXACTLY as it came out of the factory, so is bound to take a bit more room up! All the squashing and ramming in is a recipe for disaster where the bag is concerned.

Does anyone know if a Monty 12 bag is bigger than a Monty 6 bag?

Les.

There is a large grassed area running alongside the coast where I live called ''The Leas''  and when I drove along there yesterday, there were a family that were obviously doing a trial pitch on their tent which looked like a Gelert Tahoma.

Just the sight of it made me want to go and pack the car and get away somewhere !!!!

I love listening to the arguments putting up a tent can generate in couples. The last trackday i went on a father and son were putting one up and i thought they were going to kill each other.

Always a great idea to have a practice in the privecy of your own company first

Packing the tent, worst part of any trip!!!

I'm quite sure the bags are made too small just to wind me up
