Hi, I dont know the tent but i wouldn't be happy with any gap above 1 inch.....i have a bathtub groundsheet which overlaps this on the inside if required but i usually like the ventilation.

hi, its usual to have a gap, but the rain shouldnt get under it. Did you perhaps have the groundsheet right to the edge where the rain could fall on to it. The rain has been unusally heavy tho, so i suppose it could have been driven under the flysheet if it was at all windy. Also if you camped at lower end of a slope in heavy rain it could cause it to run in,

i have used my 'new' tent twice now and i can't get the bottom edge right at all. I think it is the uneven ground. I intend to get the footprint groundsheet for next time. I believe it is supposed to sit on the mudflaps.. but it can't do that if they are vertical.

Hi Tracey & welcome to the forum

Bathtub groundsheets which clip onto the sides of the tent are only supplied with certain tents - you can't buy one separately to fit any tent. The only thing I can suggest is that you buy a groundsheet (or a cheap PE tarpaulin) and cut it to fit up the sides of the tent, ie.larger than the floor area. However, if it's windy you will have to prop it up with stuff to keep it in place. Although you could try stick-on velcro to hold it onto the tent walls - I don't know if it would work.

The mud flaps should take up the space between the flysheet and the ground on the Alaska.  Make sure that the flaps are either outside or tucked under the groundsheet.

Tracey we have the same tent and the mud flaps are very small on them if the rain is driving we have had a problem with the wet we thought we were pitching ours wrong We actually went and had a look at one in a camping shop and they do have the gap  Our problem seems to be at the door if not closed all the time in bad weather we also put a couple of tent pegs under the ground sheet to make an edge if weather is very bad.  It just makes like a protection to the flat ground. . Make sure once you have pitched it you tighten or loosen the tension straps on the ring and pin accordingly.

As regards the canopy we have bought the outwell universal it just has a slight gap but was brill for extra space.
