Hi all

Been trawling over these boards for a while now, but never joined but thought I would bite the bullet and join in.

I just wanted to say a big thank you, as without some of your views I think we may have made the wrong decision in our new tent choice. We have owned a cabanon canvas tent for 7 years and I know I may get flamed here but on our last outing with it back in May, we were the only canvas frame tent on site. We were surrounded by lovely trendy looking outwells and Khyams. I was the only person fitting out my tent with floral curtains. I know, I know, canvas is by far a superior material but i'm afraid tent envy set in and we trawled round looking for a more shall I say "with it tent".

I had set my heart on an Outwell, they look so good, but after reading reviews on here we have purchased a Royal Pescara 8, unfortunately the good old British weather has stopped us trying it out so far, but hope to put it up in the garden in the very short future.

So I would just like to say thank you all, without knowing it I think you have helped us make a good decision.

When the *trendy* synthetic tents are doing passable impressions of parachutes or kites disappearing in the distance your Cabanon will still be rock solid. A Cabanon of 7 years old is still a mere baby. Some last for up to 30 years.

Well, so it might be going strong in another 20 years, but my memories of our canvas tent are not too brilliant.  Yes, it was great when it was up but it was heavy and took hours to pitch.  We've now got 3 synthetic tents and they're all great - fold up really small (well, 2 of them do) and pitch in about half an hour max.

Yup...and most of them look like they're 30 years old from the day you buy them

Thumbs up for modern designs, 5000mm HH Khyams, Delta pegs...and the combustion engine!
