Newbie inexperience alert!

I've just bought an Outwell Hartford XXL for my initial foray into the virgin territory of canvas based kipping, not thinking how I would practice putting it up before I travel away for the first time with the family.

My garden is split by two patios, one top, on bottom, with a swathe of grass that is wide enough, but not long enough to put up my new acquisition. I don't want to go away for the weekend for the first time without trying it, but how on earth do I manage this!

Any advice etc. from anyone on the forum would be very welcome.

I must say that there is a real feeling of community on this forum. This has played a big part in me joining the world of camping. My wife had a few iffy experiences as a child, but I want our kids to experience the fun under the stars that I had as a young 'un!

None of our immediate neighbours or family have a garden big enough, but the park sounds a great idea. Would a campsite allow a pitch only?

If you ask your local site I am sure they would only be too willing to help if they have the pace - explian why and they should accommodate

It looks like the park, then. Not sure I can resist a good swear-in.

If I can manage to get it up the road to Heaton Park, I might have to take the golf clubs and really start an argument!

I'm going to have a crack at erecting it in one of our local parks over the weekend. The kids will burst with excitment when I tell them.
