Got a Santiago and we love it. But - we've been away in it twice and both times have found that when it's pitched, on one side the poles (where the pins go) is bending inwards a bit. Is this something to do with the webbing tension or are we doing something obviously wrong? It doesn't seem to affect the function, but it niggles me and we're going on holiday to France soon and don't like to think of trying to sort it out in the heat!!
got funny feeling all Santiagos do this... just trying to reccall Cub camp where there was several up and am sure they all bent in sort of either side of the doors??? Is that where youmean???

Campers do it in the mud!
Hubby says we can't camp as much this yr mmm we'll see!!
camped in 2009= 27nights
Booked for 2010 = 30 nights.
Yes that's it! Either side of doors but only on one side of tent. Other side is fine. Thought at first we were on a slight slope but then it happened again when level.
My English teacher would have me in detention for putting "is bending" instead of "are bending"! Good thing I don't have to worry anymore!
LOL at 'Proper' english....... mine leaves a lot to be desired.
Am almost postive the cubs Santiagos do bend inwards at this point however if it is one side or both I can not recall.

Because the poles on the Santiago are not pre-shaped in any way, their natural tendency is to form a regular hoop rather than follow the shape of the tent, mine does exactly the same thing. The bedroom poles, of course, bend into more of a parabola due to the thinner pole sections in the centre. It is possible if you wish to spend the time to even the "bulge" out on either side of the tent, but you would have to be a bit sad to try and do that, much like me in fact!
