Recently ordered some poles from Outdoor Megastore which arrived faulty, arranged a replacement which also turned out to be faulty, so I asked for a refund. About 10 days later I finally got a refund - minus the cost of the postage. Is this normal? Doesn't seem right to have to pay postge costs for damaged goods!
Hi Yoga Girl,
Due you have anything in writing were they have admitted that the goods were damaged,If not they will claim that the goods were OK, and you would not accept them and this way you would have to pay the postage,
Good firms these days will normally refund the postage for sub standard goods.
But goods that are returned that are good, they do not refund.
All the best

Check thier terms and conditions as im sure they should by law refund in full if goods were faulty! Did you write on returns slip the goods were faulty?

I think a quick call and explain the situation. You don't actually say what was wrong with them (damaged in transit?), but they have sent you two and refunded your money, so they are not crooks. I agree they probably should not have charged any postage, but give them chance to put it right.
They have a good reputation here, so I am sure they will either explain their reasoning or refund you. Please let us know either way.
Thanks for the advice. Just missed office opening hours so will try to give them a call tommorrow. I don't think the goods were damaged in transit, I think they were substandard. Both sets of poles arrived in torn bags and the plastic caps at the end of the poles were split, the guy ropes were also quite dirty (they looked used to me!). I did send a letter with the returned goods describing in detail the defects as well so I hope they've got a record of that!
I also just made a purchase from Outdoor Megastore and that too turned up damaged.
I emailed the address given asking for a replacement about 10 minutes after the parcel had arrived and after two days waiting for a response (which didn't come) I telephoned the number given. The first two occasions I just got a message saying the mailbox was full but on the third occasion got through and was told the item was out of stock for the season. Expecting them to pick up the goods tomorrow.
I have a sneaky suspicion that they actually posted the goods damaged rather than it being damaged in transit as there were dirty scratch marks on the bag which was sealed in bubble wrap when it arrived so I'm not sure how such damage could have occured in transit. I think I probably got the last one before they ran out but it's difficult to know for sure.
Rang Outdoor Megastore today, they took my details and said they would ring me back, they rang back 20 mins later apologising and stating the refund for the P&P would be in my bank account.
Well, three weeks after returning the damaged goods, still no refund!! I sent an email to their admin mailbox a few days ago but not so much as an acknowledgement from them (again).
Don't think I'll be buying from Outdoor Megastore again.
