hi all, just wondering what everyone cooks when camping as ive run out of ideas! its hard when there are only 2 rings or gas thingys, all ideas greatfully recived regards dizzy
Corned beef (obv), instant mash, onion, black pepper and a splash of worcestershire sauce........all briskly fried in a pan then transfered to the toasting irons for the stove top and cooked both sides.
Sumptious.
------------- The JJ's
Don't take life too seriously, nobody gets out alive !!!.
As 2 veggies who enjoy long weekends in our tent, we have several tried and tested faves; veg rissoto, curry, chilli, the old stalwart pasta and we make our own veg kebabs for the barbie, frozen veg burgers. Fresh made soups and stews, and a lets take several cans, throw it together and see what happens!!
------------- Life is to short to miss out on getting your tent out
One pot stew - tin of stewed steak, tin of mini hot dog sausages, tin of sweetcorn, tin of baby carrots, bung it all on and stir occasionally till piping hot. we have it with pasta or boil in the bag rice or new potatoes or bread! Tasty and minimal effort!
we had a fantastic meal made by our friend (who is a trained chef but hubbie has since cooked it) and it was chicken thighs in an apricot sauce! Gorgeous! I think you can manage whatever you fancy is what I'm trying to say!
When we haven't got a chef with us we have the usual corn beef hash, sausage caserole, BBQ etc etc. I like eggie bread in a morning and toasted marshmellows at night!!!
Having said all this we have been camping 5 times this year and I have only actually eaten anything whilst on our main holiday. The rest of the time I've been on shakes so I've missed out on all the food
Going away for the bank holiday - guess what? back on the shakes, too many croissants whilst we were away!
------------- Camping season is here - bring it on!!!
Pasta mixed with tomato puree
Small sprinkling of dried chillie.
When cooked add 2 cans of curried mackeral but do not mix too much.
Serve and top with grated cheese.
